UFOs in the daily Press:

UFO in Saint-Zacharie, France, 1978:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper Var-Matin - République, France, on July 12, 1978.

A U.F.O. in the sky of Saint-Zacharie?

A surprising and strange impression was that felt on Monday night by an esteemed and trustworthy couple, living in Saint-Zacharie.

It was around 10:15 p.m. when, while walking his dog, a Zacharian saw, about two kilometers northwest of the locality, on the mountains, an unusual object: a sphere of thirty centimeters in diameter of orange color, extended by two vertical lines having a shiny metal appearance of fifty centimeters. These two lines were connected to a pale ball the size of a star.

For nearly ten minutes, the witness observed the motionless craft in the cloudless sky. He then returned home and called his wife who, in turn, noted the unusual presence of the object. Around 10:57 p.m., the UFO, moving at low speed and without noise, disappeared behind the mountains.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous so as not to be the target of ridicule, shared their observations with the Saint-Zacharie gendarmerie.

Due to the late hour, it does not appear to be a weather balloon [!].

Perhaps specialists in cosmic and spatial phenomena will be able to answer the questions raised by this strange presence in the Zacharian sky.
