UFOs in the Gard, France, 1976:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper Le Midi Libre, France, le 26 décembre 1976.

The regional investigation group on unidentified flying objects "V.E.R.O.N.I.C.A." (verification and study of reports on UFOs for Nîmes and the surrounding area, 3 rue Folco de Baroncelli, 30000 Nîmes, phone 67.03.37), has noted for a month a resurgence of testimonies on unusual phenomena in space. While several could be explained by meteorites, artificial satellites, aircraft, military lighting devices, some, on the other hand, have resisted analysis.

This is how, according to "V.E.R.O.N.I.C.A.", on November 5, Mrs. Mauduit of Uzès, observed around 9 p.m., an orange-red spherical object crossing the sky very quickly, followed by a sort of bright colored trail yellow and red.

On November 7, around 7:00 p.m., Mr. Jarrétie saw, also in Uzès, a motionless spot of light merging with the stars until then, which began to descend like a dead leaf for 15 seconds and then disappeared in a cloud.

On November 16, around 8:00 a.m., still in the same region, a kind of shiny metallic rectangular bar crosses the sky from southeast to northwest.

On December 1, around 7:15 p.m., Mrs. Baroni had her attention drawn above the Gardon gorges, by a "large iridescent white star surrounded by a flashing red rear ring" which quickly crossed the sky.

Finally, on December 8, around 7:15 p.m., four people from Nîmes observed a large, extremely luminous rectangle in the direction of Margueritte, which seemed to be the size of an airship, the intense luminosity of which diminished very quickly to go out completely.

"V.E.R.O.N.I.C.A." has launched a call for witnesses and is continuing its investigations.

P. S. -- Anyone who has noticed unusual phenomena is asked to contact the "V.E.R.O.N.I.C.A." group.
