The article below was published in the daily newspaper Le Midi Libre, France, on September 13, 1992.
The Orion group informed us that following the calls for witnesses published in our columns, a very interesting testimony was recorded: a completely trustworthy person was returning from her work located in Colombiers and was driving on Thursday September 3 at 9:30 p.m. in the direction of Béziers on the D162. Here is her testimonial:
I was coming back from Colombiers at 9:15 p.m. and was driving my car, a 205 diesel, and as soon as I left the village I saw above the straight line a beam of bright light illuminating the road. I drove in this direction and slowed down then, intrigued, I stopped my car 20 m before the (round) zone of lit road. I turned off the engine and the headlights and got out of the car.
I advanced to the limit of the light beam which was very slightly bluish white and whose source was located just above the road about 15 to 20 m from the ground (compared to the pylons of the high voltage line: barely a little higher).
All around this very big projector, there was a dark mass (blacker than the sky: the 1st quarter moon was towards the south not very far). This dark mass formed a large circle whose edge closest to me was only a few meters from the high power electrical cables that crossed the road above my head.
I stood there, not believing my eyes, pinching myself to make sure I was awake, hoping other cars were passing... After about 3 minutes a vehicle came, stopped (I think its headlights stayed on). A man in his fifties came down and saw like me. He confirmed to me that I was not dreaming.
We were watching together for about a minute and since the disc and projector were still absolutely still, we thought there might be a landing. The gentleman even made a remark about the power line being very close... and he said "and to think that I had to wait 50 years to see that".
I asked him his name but he replied that he wanted to remain anonymous and that he was from Narbonne. Suddenly, the set tipped over starting to the right (the headlight went out as soon as the disc had crossed the road) then the dark disc accelerated very quickly as it regained altitude. In a second it was no longer visible. When it started I put my arms in front of my face.
(In parallel to this testimony, the Orion group observes that that evening, it had just become dark, clear sky, stars visible, moon on the south side of the first quarter. No wind, calm evening. No noise was heard during all phases of this observation.
Seeing nothing, I returned home to Béziers very excited and I explained to my family what had just happened, my husband opened the shutters, but nothing was visible.
The Orion group, 18, place de la Clairette in Béziers is looking for the second witness. They guarantees his anonymity. He can call Mr. Angel Grazioli (67.30.60 13.14) for an appointment. All persons having observed an unexplained phenomenon (even old) are requested to make themselves known. Meeting of the Orion group every 4th Saturday of each month at 8 p.m. at the Maison des Associations, 15, rue général Marguerite in Béziers.
