The UFO of l'Obiou, France, 1978:

The article below was published in the daily newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré, France, le 14 janvier 1978.

The unusual object of the Obiou:
a new testimony

"A case to follow." On Friday we ended the article in these terms relating the testimony of 20 people who saw an unusual object not far from l'Obiou.

Mr. Ronat, their spokesperson, apparently did not want to draw any conclusions. The question of identifying the object remained. And yet, yesterday, a second testimony, just as precise, came to support with proof the assertions of these inhabitants of Susville and La Mure.

Mr. Peyron, an engineer in Grenoble, was also a spectator of this extraordinary phenomenon. "I was on the road to the Col de la Croix-Haute, around 8:30 p.m., when I saw a light flashing at the frequency of approximately one second and moving northeast, at the level of Obiou."

Mr. Peyron's words clearly reflect his amazement when he had to face the facts: "I first attributed this flickering to a helicopter flying at high altitude. But against all likelihood, a only light was visible (and not three as required by the regulatory signaling of aircraft). I lost sight of it for a few minutes, my path through the trees making careful observation difficult. I was still able to resume my investigation and for almost a quarter of an hour I had plenty of time to look at this unusual, very bright white object."

Mr. Peyron wanted to share his testimony with us. He also does not want to conclude that an extra-terrestrial vehicle has appeared. Logical reasoning, however, led Mr. Picard, from Grenoble, to put forward the thesis of the materialization of a planet: "If we are to believe the frequency of the apparitions and the fact that they occurred every day at the same hour, we could envisage a collective vision of the planet Venus."

It is not a question of believing one version more than another. One thing is certain, the numerous testimonies only relaunch the debate on Unidentified Flying Objects. Mr. Peyron is available to individuals or associations who would like further explanations, Phone 87.45.01. Mr. Peyron, 31, cours Jean-Jaurès, Grenoble.
