The "flying saucers"

The other evening, the Pécoul family, living on the Route d'Escaudain, were suddenly awakened by the violent explosions coming from outside. As soon as the parents tried to go outside, a mysterious force paralised them, as they distinguished a very luminous red mass in a nearby field. Mysterious shadows appeared around the craft and... faded into the darkness.

We can guess the amazement that seized the inhabitants of the building who, frightened, returned to the house more dead than alive. The next day, however, one realized that it was a joke and that two "pranksters" had played the role of the Martians and had placed a paper "saucer" in the neighbor's field.
