Ottawa, 31 oct. -- Mr. Baldwin, assistant minister of Transportation, announced that his ministry was giving up their effort to prove (or refute) the existence of flying saucers.
The observation post at Shirley's Bay, 16 km north-west of Ottawa, which had been established to that aim, had just been closed.
"Nothing, up to now, in the observation of this post was justifying enough for new government expenses."
Mr. Wilbert Smith, engineer in charge with the department of the measures of the Ministry of Transport had observed nothing since its construction last October.
Nevertheless, he himself has the intention of following the experiment.
