MONTPELLIER

Unidentified luminous object in the sky

A "luminous object of yellow-green color" was reported to the air transport centre of Aix-en-Provence by two airline pilots who indicated to have crossed its path in the sky above Montpellier Monday at 09:00. The radar of the control room of Aix-en-Provence were not able to confirm the description of the pilots, the same source indicated, while specifying that they receive only the signals coming from the aircraft equipped with adapted flight instruments [Transponders].

Two pilots, one of Air France and the other of the TAT company, announced to have crossed at 11.000 meters of altitude in the neighbourhoods of Montpellier, the path of a "yellow-green gleam" that they could not identify. This description, which did not cause concern for the safety of the flight because there no was dangerous closing-in, was the object of an incident report by the by civilian aviation. This type of incident, which is not frequently recorded, is the object "systematically, of a small investigation".
