UFO Chile #1 - October 1967

Here is ufology bulletin of Chile "UFO Chile" No. 2, page 1, published in Chile in October 1967. Impossible to find so far outside Chilean ufological circles, the newsletter was sent to me with mayn other treasures by an 87-year-old veteran Chilean ufologist in 2018, and is presented here for the first time with reproduction of the original pages, and my transcripts in Spanish, French, and English.

Barros did not fear an attack of objects, but his rigorously rational scientific mentality did not enjoy facig a phenomenon marginalized by science. And as the hours passed, his conviction of being faced with a phenomenon of non-human origin, of being spied on by an intelligence that wanted to remain anonymous for some reason, and whose next actions were unpredictable, increased.

At dusk, in an attempt to ignore this presence, the four expeditioners left to the north along the coast, skirting the Wedell Green Sea. The refuge, located on a moraine - the bed of an ancient glacier - stood at about sixty meters above sea level, so that during the displacement the men were soon out of sight of the objects because of the a cliff falling perpendicularly. But suddenly, a spark appeared, which disappeared again in a fraction of a second on the cliff, as if this maneuver was only to warn them that it was useless to hide. It was about nine o'clock in the evening. When the men returned to the camp, the objects were still in the same position.

During the night - always with the sun in sight - no one could sleep. Nothing special happened during the evening or the first hours of the second day. The men, insomniacs and without appetite, reached the limit of their physical resistance.

At dusk that day, cirrus clouds appeared, forming in the Antarctic at a height of seven to ten thousand meters and constituting the vanguard of thunderstorms. Using this level, Professor Barros determined by the theodolite the height of the objects as being about eight thousand meters and their length to something like one hundred and fifty meters. Their greatest width has been estimated to be twenty-five meters. These data are quite reliable because one of the clouds cast a slight shadow on one of the objects. The discovery inspired Professor Barros. Taking a polarizing lens, used to determine the composition of rocks and other substances by diffracting the light, he turned the screen of the instrument towards the objects and activated the focus. Almost instantly, object One emitted an intense light and when it moved, it had come down significantly. Its apparent size was that of a small car, that is, something like three meters in length. Dr. Tagle, who looked at it for a long time, thought he could distinguish a kind of trapdoor in the upper part, which was not corroborated by Barros.

This unusual descent, which seemed a reaction of the object to the signal made by Barros with the polarizing lens, produced Tagle's nervous breaknown. With a foot kick he destroyed the lens. Object One began to rise again, and another set of evolutions began. During one of these flights, Professor Barros, using the altitude previously estimated, determined its speed by angulation: 40 000 kilometers per hour, that is to say, almost the speed of escape of the Earth's gravity. Because the objects started from scratch and reached this speed instantaneously, then stopped abruptly, without progressive deceleration, the inertia inside them had to be mortal for every living creature except
