ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are “explained” or “unexplained”.

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

France or Germany, on September 9, 1945:

Case number:

ACUFO-1944-09-09-FRANCEORGERMANY-1

Summary:

The American ufologist Peter Davenport set up in the 2000s a website, the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), allowing people to submit, anonymously or not, their testimony of UFO sightings, which were then recorded in a database and visible on this website.

There is a testimony received in 2003 about a sighting said to have occurred on September 9, 1944, from an aircraft over France or Germany.

It is said that it was several cigar-shaped or cylindrical craft, silver in color, that the duration was short.

It is said they were seen during bombing mission from England en route to Berlin, from a B-17 M with a crew of 10 men.

The witness said that “We were told that these were experimental aircraft that the Germans were developing. My memory is probably fogged due to the number of years that have passed but I can't forget these objects.”

Cigar shaped craft

Objects were silver in color and cylindrical in shape. Seen during bombing mission from England enroute to Berlin. Our aircraft was a B-17m and held a crew of 10 men. We were told that these were experimental aircraft that the Germans were developing. My memory is probably fogged due to the number of years that have passed but I can't forget these objects.

Aircraft information:

The US B-17 “Flying Fortress” was a heavy bomber fitted with five 7.62 machine guns for its defense against enemy fighter planes.

B-17 formation.

Discussion:

It is of course very easy for anyone to write such a report and send it to the National UFO Reporting Center, so that the credibility cannot be assured.

Also, there is no indication about the actions of the reported objects, and it was not specified whether this was in the night of by day. It is not possible to discard that the objects were new German planes such as the Messerschmitt Me-163 “Komet”, although the witness may have been sure they weren't with the passing of time - if the report is truthful.

Evaluation:

Insufficient information, unknown credibility.
