The regional newspaper Ouest France for October 7, 1954, reported that Mr. and Mrs. René Pellan, of Saint-Renan, saw on the Aber road, at the place called COAT TIFAL, turning 200 meters above them, a luminous craft, 7 to 8 meters long, in the shape of a cigar, glowing red, leaving behind a pink trail.
It is the Archives Vigie OVNI 29 website that gave, in the 2010s, the date of observation as October 4, 1954.

As for Brittany, it wasn't "spared" either by the odd visitors.
Mr. and Mrs. Rene PELLAN of Saint-Renan indeed saw on the road of the river Aber, at the place called COAT TIFAL, veering at 200 m above them, a long luminous machine from 7 to 8 m, having the shape of a cigar, of an incandescent red, leaving a pink trail behind itself.

Luc Chastan notes in his database that in the Finistère in St Renan on October 4, 1954 at an unknown hour, "a couple saw on the road of the Aber, at the place called COAT TIFAL, veering 200 m above them, a long luminous machine of 7 to 8 m, in the shape of a cigar, of an incandescent red, leaving a pink trail behind."

The date of the newspaper article is precise, the date of the observation is approximate; I found it followed by a question mark in a ufologist's personal notes.
