IN THE SKY OF THE DAUPHINE

SAUCERS AND CIGARS
conduct massive raids

CIGARS or saucers, mysterious craft are haunting the skies of the Dauphiné. They have been seen. They've even been filmed! The director of a Parisian music hall, on vacation in the Arbre [sic] region, actually pointed his camera at one of these craft, which he said was flying at an altitude of 700 meters.

At last! Once the film is developed, we'll know whether it's an optical illusion--such as those reportedly experienced near Feyzin (Isère) by a young man, and near Chabeuil by Mme L... The former is said to have seen a saucer take off vertically from a field. As for Mme L..., she reportedly encountered the pilot of one of these craft--if one can call it that--described as a small being dressed so strangely that she couldn't describe it precisely. Other people in Chabeuil also saw a saucer sweep across the sky over their town.

Finally, near Lake Bourget, above Mount Revard, several motorists--around fifteen people in total--simultaneously saw a disk-shaped craft maneuver for about four minutes before disappearing abruptly.

One of the witnesses, a doctor from Chambéry and former artillery observer, carefully recorded his observations and drew a diagram reproducing the object's path.

Luminous objects over Canet-Plage

PERPIGNAN, September 29. -- A baker from Canet-Plage, Mr. Etienne Err, stated that while returning from a delivery run with his van, he saw a shining disc above the locality. It made wide circles before flying off toward the sea.

Meanwhile, seven workers from a factory on the outskirts of Perpignan also claim to have seen an object of an indeterminate color moving at high speed, which appeared to cross the Pyrenees heading toward Spain.

... and in the sky of Haute-Garonne

TOULOUSE, September 29. -- Three residents of Lanta, near Villefranche-de-Lauragais (Haute-Garonne), Mr. and Mrs. Brunet and Mr. Gadra, a local schoolteacher, claim to have seen a luminous orange disc above the village around 8:00 p.m.

The object was flying at a high altitude and moved from north to south.

After being visible for thirty to forty seconds, the luminous disc disappeared over the horizon.

Locomotive driver frightened

REDON, September 29. -- Mr. Gérard, engineer, and Mr. Paroux, fireman, were operating an empty train coming from Nantes when, at a place called "La Butte du Rouge" in the commune of Saint-Nicolas-de-Redon (Ille-et-Vilaine), they saw a craft rising from nearby marshes.

The craft, followed by a luminous trail, flew for about ten seconds above the train and then vanished into the sky.

The engineer remained calm. However, the fireman was so frightened that he fell ill and had to undergo a medical examination.

Luminous sphere photographed in Sweden

STOCKHOLM, September 29. -- A luminous sphere trailing a fiery tail was photographed last night in Bjuv, southeastern Sweden. The object, which moved northward, reportedly flew rapidly, "as high as a jet plane," according to the witness, "without making any noise."
