KALGOORLIE, Thurs. -- A company representative said that he had driven at 80 m.p.h. near Norseman last night in an attempt to get away from a cigar-shaped flying object which was hovering above his car.
Mr. John House, 35, of Simon Park, said he was driving from the Eyre Highway to Coolgardie about 10 miles from Norseman, at coaching time, when he saw the reflection of a car’s lights ahead of him on the bitumen.
When he topped the rise there was no car in sight. A moment later he saw a glowing white-blue light hovering at tree level.
FOLLOWED
The light followed him, and he accelerated to 80 m.p.h., but it kept alongside the car.
After about two miles he stopped the car and got out. The object veered away.
The next morning he left the door of the car open and saw dust and twigs with leaves had been disturbed when the object had gone.
The Department of Civil Aviation said that there were no aircraft in the area at the time.
