"At first, I thought it was just a little thing, nothing at all, as it often happens. Sorting through testimonies is a huge task, but in some cases, it can become interesting, and it seems like this is one of those cases."
For the past thirty years, Bruno Bousquet, treasurer of the Ovni-Languedoc association, has been passionate about UFOs. He knows how to differentiate between the eccentrics who contact him and the people who sincerely believe they saw something.
Now, he has a new case: on Tuesday, September 26, in the evening, residents of the Clémentville district spotted strange and still unexplained phenomena in the clear, starry sky.
"I was at a friend's house, and through the window, we saw several lights, luminous points. They stayed there for a few minutes before disappearing, and then we saw others," explained one witness. "These phases were repetitive, and we saw up to six points at the same time."
"Red, green, blue dots slightly offset and a dimmer orange light."
"We contacted the police and gendarmes, but no official reports were filed. It was not a police helicopter nor a commercial plane from the airport making a turn. The absence of noise and airplanes is troubling," said Thierry Gaulin, president of the Ovni-Languedoc association.
Experts also pointed out that a mysterious orange light that reportedly stabilized above the roof of a barn was observed in Landrecies, in northern France, along with a strong smell of burning and sulfur, as well as whitish traces on the ground...
Is there a connection? The local UFO researchers' counter-investigation showed that no plane had passed through the area, even though reports of these UFO sightings were numerous.
So, were UFOs seen in Montpellier? "We try to be rigorous, maybe in a few weeks a rational explanation will emerge," reassures Thierry Gaulin.
