Rome. -- A new Martian story is sparking curiosity... or skepticism among readers of Italian newspapers. The protagonist of this story is Americo Lorenzini, a 48-year-old farmer from Isola, a small village near La Spezia, described as "serious in every respect."
While heading to the rabbit hutch to replace their grass, he saw a luminous cigar-shaped craft descend and land nearby. Dazzled, he hid behind some bushes. Through a small door in the craft, he saw very small beings emerge, dressed in metallic diving suits, speaking to each other and pointing at the rabbits in their hutch.
With a leap, the farmer ran to grab his rifle from a nearby workshop and returned to his hiding spot. He pulled the trigger, but the shot did not fire. He tried to shout, but no sound came from his throat. He had to drop the rifle, which was becoming increasingly heavy.
Meanwhile, the small beings entered the hutch, seized the rabbits, and climbed back into the cigar-shaped craft. It took off immediately, leaving behind a blinding trail.
As soon as the craft departed, Mr. Lorenzini regained his voice and was able to use his rifle. But by then, the cigar had already vanished at dizzying speed.
However, at the spot where the craft had landed, the farmer found no trace of its presence.
A flying disc was seen in the skies over Rome by many people, including the famous writer Alberto Moravia, who stated that he had clearly seen the craft.
Dismissing all scientific explanations against the existence of "discs," the writer declared that he "believes" now that he has "seen" one.
