More than a thousand unidentified "flying objects" in 1966 in the United States skies

DAYTON OHIO (Reuter). -- A thousand and sixty unidentified "flying objects" were reported during last year above the United States, but one has no proof allowing to establish that some of them came from the extraterrestrial space, major Hector Quintanilla, of the American Air Force, stated yesterday.

The major, who heads the "Blue Book" project set up for the study of the air phenomena, stated that this figure is the highest since 1952, when 1501 "objects" had been reported.

On the 1060 "objects" seen last year, only 30 could not be defined satisfactorily. 242 others could not be identified because information on their subject was insufficient. The remainder of the "objects", finally, was identified as being planes, balloons, satellites, missiles, rockets, fireworks, clouds, birds, will-o'-the-wisps, sparks and even a headlight.
