Flying saucer in Kent, U-K., 1947:

This article was published in the daily newspaper l'Est Républicain, France, on July 11, 1947.

Note: the debris recovered in Mr Russell's garden was later explained as being a meteorite.

"SAUCERS" IN ENGLAND?

London - Two people claim that they have seen a "flying saucer" flying above Kent Wednesday.

Is it really a saucer?

Hollywood - an engineer, Mr. Russell, discovered in his garden what could be really this time one of these "flying discs," on the subject of which the most whimsical reports entered these days at the military authorities.

The machine discovered by Mr. Russell is comparable to a "saucer" of 65 centimetres in diameter which, according to the engineer, emitted a smoke after having fallen on the ground with "a distinctive detonation noise."
