Good things come to those who wait; indeed, ever since people started talking about saucers, cigars, etc., the people of Vatanais were wondering what was happening elsewhere, as they were about to become the only ones who had not yet seen one of these famous craft. Some even considered circulating a petition to request a visit from a Martian [sic] saucer or something similar. That is now unnecessary.
Because on Saturday evening, around 7 p.m., a craft appeared in the Vatanais sky. This took place at Les Loges, and about fifteen people were able to observe the phenomenon. Let’s get to the facts.
Mrs. Elisabeth Baron was tending to her rabbits when, lifting her head, she saw, in the direction of La Charleresse, a ball of fire in the sky. She observed the object for a few minutes as it moved slowly, stopped, lost a little altitude, stopped again. Witnessing this, Mrs. Baron called out to her neighbors: Mrs. Pierre Chrétien, Mrs. Michenet, Pierrot Baron, "Le Baron," Mr. Lhotte, Mr. Rigolet, etc., and they all followed the movements of this luminous sphere, which was heading toward Châteauroux and, after being observed for nearly 20 minutes, disappeared behind the houses of La Charleresse.
According to the witnesses, this object—which they hesitate to call a "saucer"—was at a very high altitude, was very bright, resembled a yellow-greenish fireball, and moved slowly.
A resident of "La Raterie" also observed it.
It may not have been a saucer, but one thing is certain: about fifteen Vatanais saw something.
Notably, this object was also observed in the vicinity of Châteauroux.
