Official, France:

In France, there is still no equivalent of the Freedom of Information Acts (FOIA) as it is now applied to some official UFO information in the majority of other countries, USA, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy etc. In France, and only in theory, information is supposedly possibly accessible 60 years after its date. (Thus 2014 for UFO cases of 1954 etc). It is only if you are "Somebody of Importance" such as TV journalist Jean-Claude Bourret in the 70's, or if you have "Friends Inside", or if you beg enough, that you can maybe pick up some documents.

UFO above the car, March 2, 1974, investigation:

This document was reproduced in the ufological literature long ago.

We Maréchal Des Logis Chef [G1], hear:

[T1], 38 years old, born the [-] 1935, unmarried. Construction site foreman, resident in [V2], of French nationality, who states to us at 18 hours 25:

This day March 2, 1974, at 3 hours, coming back from [V3] and finding myself at the crossroads formed by the National Road [-] and the National Road [-], territory of the community of [V4], I noticed a blue light in the sky approaching quickly in my direction coming from the South-east.

All of a sudden, the object stabilized above my vehicle at a height of 4 meters approximately and followed me on the Main road.

I was very afraid and I accelerated but the machine remained above my car up to one kilometer approximately before [V6] where it veered towards [V8] while taking height again at a vertiginous speed.

I did not see the machine taking off or landing.

It came from the direction of the South-east (private airfield [V7]) and disappeared in the direction of the North-West.

The apparatus had the shape of a cigar measuring approximately three meters length by two meters of width. It was surmounted by a cupola. I did not notice an antenna nor any other protrusion. It emitted a blue light comparable to that emitted by a weling machine but very intense. I saw as in full day.

The apparatus was of gray steel color, did not emit any noise, nor smoke.

I was very afraid but did not feel any nervous disorder or other disorder thereafter.

When the apparatus was above my vehicle, the car's radio stopped, it restarted when the apparatus had disappeared.

My car absolutely did not move during the presence of the apparatus, there has been no air volume displacement nor heat effect.

I was alone on board my car, I did not see any being on board this flying machine.

I was the only motorist on the National Road [-].

March 2, 1974, at 18 hours 55.

Having read the above statment, I persist and I have nothing to change, to add or to remove from it.

(Has signed on the statments notebook)

The unidentified flying machine was noticed by Mister [T1] coming from the direction of South-east. I.e. normally it had to pass above or near the airfield of [V7] and while continuing an imaginary line near the Emitting Station [V8], see reference mark 1 and 2 of the attached map.

The appartus not having landed, no observation could be made on the ground.

By radio message #298/2 of March 2, 1974, we reported to the Commander of the Compagny.

We made contact telephonically with the following military and civilian organizations:

No disturbance was noted in the hertzian relay systems on Saturday, March 2, at 3 hours. Checks were carried out on the inspection specification of the responsible Under-Officer that night.

No anomaly or disturbance was noted on the radar sets of these two units.

The aerodrome of [V7] is a private air club not comprising any control installation. There is no night service.

We contacted the Gendarmerie Squad of [V2], in order to collect information on the morality and the background of the witness, Mister [T1]. The interested party never prompted any unfavourable remark, no legal or any other issue is not known about him.
