ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Discussion:

Map.

Almost everyone knows that when taking pictures of moving light sources with a long exposure, instead of point sources, one obtains "trails" corresponding to the displacement of the light sources during exposure time. Almost everyone has seen pictures like this one:

These are cars, with a very long exposure time.

In the case we deal with, we have the flashing lights of an airplane or a helicopter, who had time to blink several times during the probable few seconds of exposure time.

It would have been sufficient that the photographer published his original images instead of poor versions converted to a video do demonstrate it surely. But these original photos are not disclosed...

Note that the apparent geometric irregularities and imperfect alignment of the "dots" correspond to the combination of the different flashing intervals of the three lights and the shaky camera during shooting.

The photographer must have seen what was there with his own eyes, something that is obviously not like on the photos but clearly an airplane. It is therefore likely that there was an intent to fool the viewers.

Photo.

Above: another pseudo-UFO of the same kind that made a "buzz" as "a UFO" in the English tabloids before they understood what it really was.

Evaluation:

Photo artefact, plane.
