ACUFO:

ACUFO is my comprehensive catalog of cases of encounters between aircraft and UFOs, whether they are “explained” or “unexplained”.

The ACUFO catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file.

Lake Fields, Louisiana, USA, on September 10, 1945:

Case number:

ACUFO-1945-09-10-LAKEFIELDS-1

Summary:

In his 1981 book “Alerte dans le Ciel”, the French journalist and ufologist Charles Garreau stated that the first UFO sighting report reaching A.T.I.C. (Air Technical Intelligence Center) of the US Air Force was about a case that occurred on September 10, 1945, over Lake Fields, in which three fighter planes had spotted a flying disc about thirty meters in diameter, and tried to chase it. But the craft quickly and easily escaped.

THE AMERICAN FILE

The first observation report received by the A.T.I.C. (Air technical intelligence center = intelligence service of the U.S. Air Force) is not the spectacular observation of Kenneth Arnold, on June 24, 1947, which will reveal to the general public the existence of the “flying saucers”.

On September 10, 1945, above Lake Fields, three fighters spotted a flying disc about thirty meters in diameter, and tried to chase it. But the craft quickly and easily “escaped” them.

[Ref. jsn1:] JEAN-CLAUDE SIDOUN:

The author indicates that on September 10, 1945, above Lake Fields, three American fighters spotted a flying disc 30 meters in diameter. They tried to chase it, but quickly, the flying object lost them.

The author indicates that the source is “Alerte dans le ciel, Charles Garreau, Alain Lefeuvre publishers, 1981, page 17”.

Aircraft information:

It is only stated that the planes involved were fighter planes.

Discussion:

I am not certain that the place was the “Lake Fields” in Louisiana, as there are some other, “smaller” places in the USA with the same or similar names.

Carte.

I found no record of this alleged incident in any other source.

Evaluation:

Unknown credibility.
