ACUFO-1937-00-00-UNKNOWNPLACE-1
In 2014, the image below appeared on the Web, illustrating low-quality general articles about the “Foo-Fighters”.
It appeared in 2022 in a French book about the “Foo-Fighters” with the claim that it was taken in September 1944.
The image was never accompanied by any information as to its origin. There was never any source, date, location, or related observation report.

[Ref. www1:] ON THE WEB:
The photo has no caption, it illustrates a brief, totally fanciful article (*) on the “Foo-Fighters”, which is in part a copy of the Wikipedia EN article on the subject as of 2018.
(*) For example, it is falsely stated that “Only night crews experienced the sightings”, even though the image allegedly showing a "Foo-Fighter" is obviously a daytime image.
[Ref. jsn1:] JEAN-CLAUDE SIDOUN:
The image has this caption:
Foo-Fighters flying together with a US military plane in September 1944. Some skeptics claim they are actually weather balloons. Are they right, are they wrong? ...
The plane on the image is a North American T-6 “Texan” of an American unit. The T-6 was the standard training aircraft for Allied fighter pilots during World War II, called AT-6 in the U.S. Army Air Corps, called “SNJ” in the U.S. Navy, called “Harvard” in the Commonwealth Air Forces. It was produced in very large numbers with 15,495 units built.
The T-6 first flew in 1937 and was used by the Americans during World War II and until the Vietnam War.
In [www1] I give an example of how the image appears on the web. There are others, about twenty, and I cannot quote all of them. Some examples:
In no case is the image credited, sourced, dated, geographically located, or accompanied by any useful information. Nobody even told what plane appears in the picture.
The oldest web sources showing this image are from 2014.
No serious ufology source shows this image. All the sites showing it are dubious publications, of poor quality, presenting fanciful general information on the question of UFOs and “Foo-Fighters”.
I couldn't find the same photo without the so-called “Foo-Fighters” on it.
I see two possible ordinary explanations: that of photographic artifacts, or that the image was manufactured, like others, as an “artist's view”, a simple illustration.
Probable artist's view.
