Summary:

According to Jean Sider's 1997 book on the 1954 French wave, the regional newspaper La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest for October 13, 1954, reported that about 15 days earlier, in Cravant-les-Côteaux, children saw apparatuses land near Chinon.

At the site of the alleged landing, one would have found spots of a viscous product comparable to mineral oil.

French ufologist and author Jean Sider learned in an article from the newspaper "La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest" for October 13, 1954, that approximately 15 days before, a flying saucer was also seen in Cravant.

Children are said to have seen apparatuses being posed close to Chinon. At the place of the supposed landing, one would have found stains of a viscous product comparable to mineral oil.

The author indicates that towards the end of September 1954 kids are said to have seen apparatuses land close to Chinon in Cravant-Les-Coteaux. At the place of the supposed landing, spots of a viscous product comparable with mineral oil were reportedly found. The author suggests that it could a possible confusion with Army apparatuses and that he is not informed of any analysis of the oil found at the site.

It is towards the end of September that children would have seen apparatuses landing near Chinon. At the alleged location of the landing, traces resembling specks could have been found that could be produced by a viscous product identifiable to mineral oil.

Explanations:

Not only is this Press report extremely meager and vague, but it should be clear that aircraft that can land anywhere other than an airfield and leave oil traces are likely to simply be helicopters.
