Summary:

According to two ufology catalogs of the 1970s, the newspaper La Montagne of Aurillac reported an observation of October 28, 1954, in Montmiant, Allier, at a place called Les Echassières:

At 8:55 p.m., Mr. and Mrs. Dubreuil, accompanied by Miss Brun, left Mr. Garengeat's home in the village of Montmiant when their attention was attracted by a luminous ball of 2 meters in diameter which moved horizontally over the hill "les Suchots".

At a "dizzying" pace, it crossed the sky from east to west leaving a trail of flames behind.

M. et Mme Dubreuil en compagnie de Mlle Brun sortaient de chez M. Garengeat au bourg de Montmiant lorsque leur attention fut attirée par une boule lumineuse de 2 m de diamètre (?) qui se déplaçait horizontalement au-dessus de la colline les "Suchots". A une allure vertigineuse, elle traversa le ciel d'est en ouest en laissant une trainée de flammes derrière elle (La Montagne-Aurillac du 05/11/1954).

Mr. and Mrs. Dubreuil and two other witnesses saw a luminous ball of 2 m in diameter moving rapidly E-W, leaving behind a trail of flames.
