LANNION. August 28. -- Three reliable people saw an orange glow in the Lannion sky shortly before 1 o'clock on the night of Monday to Tuesday. One of them, Miss M. L. C., executive secretary, told us about her observations: "We were driving on the Perros-Guirec road towards Lannion, when our driver thought he saw the glow of a fire behind the Z.U.P. Wanting to know more, we went to the crossroads of the Trébeurden road and the Z.U.P.; it was then that we saw a sort of orange ball of a setting sun and located slightly above the horizon line."
"The color was that of a sodium vapor lamp of the type used for so-called rustic public lighting. Intrigued, we stopped the car, deciding to observe the "phenomenon"..."
"The luminous ball remained motionless for about ten minutes then it deformed by lengthening in the same way as a projector seems to deform when it rotates on its axis. In a few seconds, the luminous shape diminished in size before our eyes and finally disappeared behind the horizon. It seemed to us then that a sort of halo of light was appearing on the horizon. Back home, we consulted a map of the region; we were able to see that the glow must be located to the south-east of Lannion, probably near Ploulec'h."
