Professor Gabriel Alvial Caceres, Director of the Center of Cosmic Radiation of the University of Chile, has presented today one photograph of "a phenomenon to explain," that left the impression of an object of biconvex shape, with a convex top part and a bottom part slightly pointed at the ends, and which stayed for more than an hour at about 2 thousands metres of altitude, between the capital and the coast of Valparaiso, just recently on March 17.
The photograph, according to the wording of professor Alvial, was caught, with two other in 60 minutes, at 09:35 PM on the indicated day, with an Elmer-Leika lens, an aperture time of 2 minutes, an aperture of 2,5 an a 80 ASA film.
In order to demonstrate that the "phenomenon" was hovering at a fixed location in space, in a stable manner, other photographs were taken, one of them with 5 minutes of exposure time, where the movement of a star of first magnitude and the fixed position of the object or light that was captured by the aforementioned scientific center are noticed.
According the explanation by professor Alvial about his methodology, he does not name the visual evidences and photographic observation of these types of phenomena as "unidentified flying objects," (UFOs), nor as flying saucers, because his studies denominates it with the abbreviation PTE, which means "phenomena to explain". He was quite specific in insisting that at no time it was about proving the existence of UFOs or saucers, but that his interest is to continue the observation of space, to achieve a coordinated work with other national and international scientific centers, to find the explanations to these phenomena. He expressed, in addition, that the phenomena "do not occur with certain regularity, which would allow a better appreciations and scientific proof, but this does not mean that that regularity is not possible".
SINCE OCTOBER
Professor Abvial indicated that since the month of October of last year, the photographic evidence of about 10 to 15 of these "phenomena to explain" surfaced, of stars of more than magnitude 1, which impelled the Center of Cosmic Radiation, aside from its program, to also dedicate its observations to this matter. He indicated that for the center, this implied a methodology, first an investigating part, from which greater advantages can be obtained form the visual observations and the photographic details, to obtain the "evidences of these phenomena". A second step, he said, will require the competences of greater knowledge and more advanced scientific elements.
THE LOCATION
Professor Alvial said that, aside from the personal who saw and photographed the "phenomenon to explain", he does not have knowledge of other people who have made the same observation. "Our personal, I stress, observed the phenomenon and I caught it."
The location was from the Center of Cosmic Radiation, at 33 degrees of latitude and 71 degrees of longitude, at a distance of 4 kilometers of Santiago, at the interior of the Andes mountains at an altitude of 3,442 meters, where an observation of the horizon can be made, at the level of the sea, at a distance of 350 kilometers. With 4 kilometers of atmosphere, he said, the transparency of the nocturnal sky is much better.
The photograph presented by professor Alvial shows the Cordillera de la Costa in the background and the light reflected alongside the port of Valparaiso on the left, with the luminosity of the "phenomena to explain" on the right. It could be that the phenomena was hovering at two thousands metres of height, between Santiago and the Astronomy Observatory of the Oak, located at the north of Valparaiso at about 80 kilometers of the capital. The Professor indicated that he presented this photographs and the previous photographs in view of the speculation that has been made recently, without scientific basis, on the alleged capture of a "flying saucer."
The possibility exists, he agrees, that the thing caught in the photograph is an atmospheric phenomenon, but its capability to stay at a fixed location for more than an hour, made them think a lot about that circumstance, and that it is in contradiction with an explanation.
When consulted if the captured thing had been profiled against some intermediate hill between the mountain ranges of the Coast and the mountain ranges of the Andes, he specified that others photographs, caught during the day, revealed different geographic profiles than the one from this "phenomenon." The possibility of a default in the photographic plates was also discarded.
El Professor Gabriel Alvial Caceres, Director del Centro de Radiación Cósmica de la Universidad de Chile, dio a conocer antecedentes y una fotografia de "un fenómeno por explicar", que dejó la impresión fotografica de un objeto de forma lenticular, con la parte superior convexa y la inferior ligeramente en punta hacias los extremos y que permaneció durante más de una hora a unos 2 mil metres de altura, entre la capital y la costa de Valparaiso, el 17 de marzo recién pasado.
La fotografia, según expreso el professor Alvial, fue captada, con otras dos en 60 minutos, a las 21.35 horas del dia indicado, con una lente Elmer-Leika, con una exposición de 2 minutos, une abertura de 2.5 en una pelicula de 80 asas.
Para demostrar que el "fenómeno" quedó quieto en el espacio, parpadeante, se tomaron otras fotografias, una de ellas con 5 minutos de exposición, donde se advierte el movimiento de una estrella de primera magnitud y el estatismo del objeto o luz que captó el mencionados centre cientifico.
Según explicó el professor Alvial su métode de trabajo ne califica de "objetos voladores no identificados, (Ovnis), ni come platillos voladores, las evidencias visuales e fotográficas observadas de estos tipos de fenónenos, a los cuales, para su estudie denomina con la sigla FPE, que indica "fenómenos por explicar". Fue especifico para señalar que en nungún momento se refiere a comprobar la existencia de ovnis o platillos, sino que es de interés continuar las obcervaciones del espacio, lograr una labor coordinada con otros centros cientificos nacionales e internacionales, para encontrar explicación a esos fenómenos. Expresó, además, que estes "no so dan con cierta periodicidad, que permitiria mejores apreciaciones y evidencias cientificas, pero este no quiere decir que esa periodicidad no sea posible".
DESDE OCTUBRE
Señaló el professor Abvial que desde el mes de octubre del año pasado comenzaron a manifestarse las evidencias visuales de unos 10 a 15 de estos "fenómenos por explicar", de estrellas de más de primera magnitud, lo que impulsó al Centro de Radiación Cósmica, aparte de su programa, a dedicar también sus observaciones en esta materia. Señaló que el centro esta adecuande una metodologia, en una primera parte investigadora, de la cual puedan obtenerse las mayores ventajas agotando los detalles visuales y fotográficos, para obtener las "evidencias de estos fenómenos". Una segunda etapa, señaló, necesitará el concurse de mayores conocimientos y de elementos cientificos más avancados.
LA UBICACION
Dijo el professor Alvial que, aparte del personal que vió y fotografió el "fenómeno por explicar", no tiene conocimiento de otras personas que hayan hecho la misma observación. "Nuestro personal, recalcó, observé el fenómeno y por ese lo captó".
Ubicado el Centro de Radiación Cósmica a 33 grades de latitud y 71 grades de longitud, a una distancia de 4 kilómetros de Santiago, al interior de la Cordillera de los Andoes en una altura de 3.442 metros, puede hacer una observación del horizonte, a nivel del mar, hasta una distancia de 350 kilómetros. Con 4 kilómetros de atmósfera, dijo, la diafanidad del cielo nocturne es mucho mayor.
La fotografia que dio a conocer el professor Alvial, muestra, al fondo, la Cordillera de la Costa y la luz reflejada del puerto de Valparaiso al lado izquierdo encontrándose al derecho la luminosidad del "fenómenos por explicar". Pude estar éste, inmóvil a dos mil metres de altura, entre Santiago y el Observatorio Astronomicó de El Roble, ubicado al norte de Valparaiso a unos 80 kilómetros de la capital. Señaló el Professor que daba a conocer esta fotografia y antecedentes en vista de la especulación que se ha hecho ultimamente, sin basamento cientifico, sobre la supuesta captación de "un platillo volador".
Existe la posibilidad, agrego, que lo captado en la fotografia sea un fenómeno atmosférico, pero su capabilidad por má de una hora, hacen pensarmas allé de esta circunstancia, y que podemos encontrarie una explicación.
Al consultárse le si lo captado hubiera sido el perfil de algún cerro intermedio entre las cordilleras de la Costa y la de los Andes, especificó, que otras fotografias, captada de die, revelaron perfiles geográficos distintos a los que tenia el "fenómeno". También fue descartada algunar falla de las placas usadas para la exposición fotográfica.
