UFOs sighted in Dayton area

Dayton, Ohio (UPI): At least a dozen law enforcement officers and hundreds of residents reported seeing an unidentified flying object (UFO) "covered with red, green and blue lights"flying at tree-top level last night.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Sullivan said the UFO was first reported shortly after 8 p.m. by a New Lebanon Township officer, west of here.

"The officer," said Sullivan, "said it was oblong and covered with lights. It appeared stationary in the sky about tree-top level for several minutes until he tried to shine his cruiser spotlight on it. Then it zoomed toward him and then shot straight up into the air and disappeared."

Neither nearby Wright Patterson Air Force Base nor Cox Municipal Airport could detect the object on radar sets, Sullivan added.

But at Baer Field in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, military radar watchers said they picked up an unexplained blip on their screen. They dispatched a light plane, which failed to find the object.
