After four and a half years of work, devoted to the study and research on the UFO issue, worldwide, and particuliarly in our country, the Research Center on the Unidentified Flying Objects (C.I.O.V.I.) present this special issue, which contains the cases that have occurred on the national territory.
The collection of the latter includes all the observations of UFOs recorded in Uruguay, about which the Center was informed. Are included, consequently, all those that occurred before the CIOVI was founded, and all those that the Center could learn about through the Press, and those coming directly from our investigations.
The listed cases are relying on the responsibility for the press that published them, and to the responsibility of CIOVI after their study.
To this collection, the first and unique in the world to exclusively relate to Uruguay, it is appropriate, consequently, to add these three warnings:

1) It was practically impossible to include all the existing publications in Uruguay, and it is impossible to claim that this listing of case is complete.

2) Through the investigation work by the Center on cases which occurred, we managed to obtain vague stories by many people, on cases that occurred long ago, before the Center existed, and for which there has never been any publicity, ouselves having not been in touch with the observers, their families or friends.
We did not include such stories.

3) Of all the cases studied by the Center, the only cases included in this issue are those which by their features positively correspond to observations of Unidentified Flying Objects.

This work, obviously, is not completed. The people and the Institutions that are interested in it will periodically receive the new pages of this work, which will be the product of the constant efforts of the CIOVI. The pages that will be added, consequently, will be updates of this catalogue.
The Research Center on the Unidentified Flying Objects of Uruguay thus intends to fulfill its task of information on the matter, and collaboration with similar organizations distributed everywhere in the world.

Luego de cuatro años y medio de labor, dedicada al estudio y la investigación del problema de los OVNIs., en el plano mundial, y en el particular de nuestro país, el Centro de Investigación de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados (C.I.O.V.I.) presenta esta edición especial, que contiene los casos ocurridos en el territorio nacional.
La recopilación de los mismos abarca todas las observaciones de OVNIs registradas en Uruguay, de las cuales el Centro haya tenido conoscimiento. Están incluidas, por lo tanto, todas aquellas que se realizaron con anterioridad a la existencia de CIOVI, y todas las que el Centro ha podido conocer a través de la prensa, y en forma directa por medio de su investigación.
Los casos presentados están respaldados por la responsabilidad de la prensa que los dió a publicidad, y por la responsabilidad de CIOVI luego del estudio de los mismos.
A esta recopilación, exclusiva de Uruguay y primera y única en el mundo, por lo tanto, - caben anotársele tres advertencias:

1) Ha sido prácticamente imposible abarcar todas las publicaciones existentes en el Uruguay, como para pretender que la enumeración de casos sea exhaustiva.

2) A través de la tarea de investigación del Centro de los casos que se van produciendo, hemos podido obtener a su vez, relatos imprecisos por parte de muchas personas, acerca de casos ocurridos tiempo atrás, cuando el Centro no existía, y de los cuales nunca se tuvo conocimiento público al no haber trascendido del ámbito de los propios observadores, sus familiares y amigos.
Dichos relatos no los hemos tenido en cuenta.

3) De todos los casos estudiados por el Centro, sólo están incluidos en esta edición, aquellos que por sus características corresponden positivamente a observaciones de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados.

Este trabajo no queda, por supuesto, concluido. Las personas e Instituciones que se interesen en el mismo irán recibiendo periódicamente las nuevas páginas de esta obra, que serán el producto de la labor constante del CIOVI. Las páginas que se agreguen mantendrán al día, por lo tanto, esta recopilación.
El Centro de Investigación de Objetos Voladores Inidentificados del Uruguay entiende cumplir así con su tarea de difusión sobre el tema, y de colaboración con las organizaciones similares distribuidas en todo el mundo.
