Summary:

French ufologist and author Jean Sider discovered a case of October 21, 1954, at 07:30 p.p. in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains in the Calvados, in the local newspapers Le Pays de l'Auge for October 26, 1954, and Nos Cantons for October 28, 1954:

It was reported that a group of residents of Pont-l'Evêque saw a flying saucer rising vertically at a vertiginous speed from a pasture at the edge of the national road connecting Pont-l'Evêque to Trouville, near the crossroads of the Trout in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains.

The saucer was followed by a trail of fire of three meters in length.

It is said that the saucer was also seen at the same time by a young man and a girl of Bonnebosq, who were in different districts of the commune, and were absolutely reliable people.

The French ufologist and author Jean Sider discovered this case of October 21, 1954, at 07:30 p.m. in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains close to Pont-l'Evêque in the Calvados, in the local newspapers "Le Pays de l'Auge" of October 26, 1954 and the "Nos Cantons" of October 28, and he gives this synthesis of the contents of the articles:

It was reported that a group of inhabitants of Pont-l'Evêque saw Thursday evening at 07:30 P.M. a flying saucer rising vertically at a vertiginous speed from a pasture which was located at the edge of the national road connecting Pont-l'Evêque to Trouville, near the crossroads of the Trout in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains.

The saucer was followed by a trail of fire of three meters length. It is said that the saucer was also seen at the same time by a young man and a girl of Bonnebosq, who were in different districts of the community. The press adds that all these people are absolutely worthy of faith.

Luc Chastan indicates that in the Calvados at St Martin aux Chartrains on October 21, 1954, at 19:30 "A group of residents of Pont-l'Evêque saw a flying object rise vertically at a vertiginous speed from a pasture which was located at the edge of the national road connecting Pont-l'Evêque to Trouville, close to the crossroads of the Truite in Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains. The object was followed of a trail of fire of three meters in length."

The website indicates that on 21 October 1954 at 19:30 in St Martin-Aux-Chartrains, France, "Disc rises from roadside bushes." And: "An object was observed. It departed by rapidly flying straight up until lost to sight. One disc was observed by several witnesses in a rural area briefly."

Nothing here allows to discard that the "saucer" was the meteor of 07:15 p.m. that day.

When a meteor comes to witnesses from their horizon, it seems to ride in the sky.
