Hello,

An acquaintance having spoken to me about your website, I allow myself to submit a recent observation to you.

I am 43-year-old, I live in the Moselle, I work in the field of publishing.

I had never witnessed any UFO phenomenon before.

I wish to remain anonymous (I gladly give you my name but do not want it to be published).

Last Friday, December 25, 2015 so, between 05:20 p.m. and 05:30 p.m. approximately, I saw, through the window of my bedroom, an unusual light in the sky. My wife, present at the time of the facts, also saw it and was immediately intrigued.

As I approached the window, I saw an oblong-shaped object (like a lying rugby ball), red / orange in color, moving quite fast.

The initial observation lasted between 20 and 30 seconds.

When the object was no longer observable from the window of my bedroom, I went outside and saw it a few seconds before it disappeared in the clouds.

I took care to note, immediately, various information.

The weather was mild, the sky cloudy, the temperature of 12 degrees [C], the wind forecast on the weather service was 10 km / h, it was imperceptible on the ground at that time.

The relative size of the object was approximately half an inch, holding the right arm in front of you. I am well aware of the very random nature of such an estimate, but it is impossible for me to estimate the real size of the object.

Its altitude is also very difficult to estimate. It did not shave houses, but was neither high in the sky like an airliner. On the contrary, it was below the cloud ceiling. I would say that its altitude can be estimated in hundreds of meters. Probably well below 500 meters.

The object moved straight, north, north / east, without ever losing altitude or maneuvering.

The light was steady, bright, flickering very slightly.

The reason I take the trouble to contact you, is because I know a little about the field of aviation and I am interested in amateur astronomy. I cannot put a name on what I saw.

I actually tried to make a list of all that can usually explain such a phenomenon, noting what seems to me not to fit. Of course I can be wrong on some points.

- Plane: light too powerful, not flashing, strange shape (not a position light, not a fire either), no noise

- Helicopter: Neither a floodlight, no noise

- Chinese lanterns or LED helium balloon: unusual shape, light too powerful, speed too high

- meteorite: level flight (seemingly constant speed and altitude), no drag or debris, light not corresponding to frictional heating

- ISS or satellite: flight clearly below the cloud ceiling

- flare: trajectory, type of light, speed not corresponding

- military drone: the speed could correspond, but not the shape or the lighting (and why a drone of the army would fly over the Moselle? especially illuminated like a Christmas tree ...)

- civilian drone: too big, too fast

I further specify that the observation took place at Guénange and that the object seemed to be heading towards the Cattenom nuclear power station, a distance of about 12 kilometers in straight line.

I do not know what I saw, although I am used to recognize planes, satellites or meteorites. I make no claim and I am simply curious to have an explanation and to contribute to the research, sensible and reasinable, on this kind of phenomena.

I remain available to you for any other information,

Friendly regards,
