Subject: UFO Elmwood, Wisconsin
Date: October 20, 2007
From: [Name, number]@comcast.net

Hi,

My name is [Firstname] and I remember the stories when they were first published in both Pierce County Herald and Ellsworth Record. There were photos in both papers. It wasn't a one night sighting of the objects, but several nights in a row. One of the final explanations given was the ever popular swamp gas theory.

I grew up on a 320 acre dairy farm between River Falls, WI and Ellsworth, WI in the township of Martell. Our farm was atop a small hill in the center of the valley near where Goose Creek forms.

There were several ponds that held back free flowing springs. The creek only flowed during high water of snow melt or after summer rains. I've attached the web address from Pierce County Department of Tourism. The photo of the large round barn is the one from our farm. One summer night about 1968 or 1969 at approximately 10:00 p.m. while walking through the woods and on top of the hill across the road from our farm with my uncle [Firstname] and cousin [Firstname] about ages 13 and 12 and I was 9 we watched as a UFO seemed to hover several hundred feet directly above the barn. We were carrying a couple .22 caliber rifles and I with my pellet gun and thought we should shoot at it. We each fired towards the craft and before the report echoed back from the opposite hillside the object above the barn was gone. The center of the barn holds a 55 foot high silo and at that time of year was likely nearly empty of corn silage.

The object appeared sort of a blue mettalic and only the lights at the base of the object were the diameter of the barn. The lights were spinning around the base in an orange-red color. We never saw anything similar again. We had been planning to camp in the woods that night, but decided against it. We did stay outside playing games in the dark still not believing what we had witnessed around 12:30 or 1:00 a.m. the northern lights started to show their brilliant colors of green and red. Our parents just assumed that was what we had seen all along. All I can say is we saw what we saw and it was not anything we had ever seen before.

The Elmwood story we listened to on police scanners as local city and county police were talking about what they were seeing and giving very explicit details. If it was a hoax then a lot of people certainly went through a lot of trouble. I believe we may never know.

Peace,

[Firstname] "[Nickname]" [Name]
