Good day Sir. I observed a phenomenon last Monday, July 18, 2016, at approximately 11:30 p.m.. I was in gigondas 84. My spouse also saw the same thing. As we were going back to our car, i look up to the sky. I first see an object coming approximatively from the west to the east. A luminous dot quite high in the sky; which i thought resembled a satellite. I had a small telescope when i was a teenager, i was interested in astronomy, and i have observed a large number of satellites since (i am now 45). This looked like one of them (steady light, and the speed). But the object started to accelerate more and more while it approached to out certical. It reached a speed that i have never observed neither with a satellite nor with a meteorite. It crossed an angle of about 45 ° in the sky relative to me and my vertical in a moment. The most puzzling, no trail. Then at the vertical it surted all of a sudden by almost 80 ° on its left, to follow a vers slight curve still to its left then it disappeared to the north. The observation lasted about 4 seconds. What do you think of it? I remain available to you. [Nom] [Prénom]

Notes:

The closest thing that would make an "ordinary" explanation for this would be two satellites crossing each other as one goes into the shadow, giving something like a satallite making a sudden turn (I saw that myself once). But I'm not sure at all that this is the explanation, the duration of 4 seconds seems very short.
