Observation reports November 2002:

Some of the UFO observations in November 2002 are listed on this page. Please note that these are not studies, but second hand observation reports, although mostly obtained from reliable and well known sources.

On Thursday, November 28, 2002, the same day UFOs were seen in Buenos Aires, at 3:45 p.m., several silver disc-shaped objects were spotted in Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

The objects, described by witnesses as "various flattened spheres," were spotted hovering over the Cerro Monserrate (hill) in Bogota. Telephones were ringing off the hook at the Bogota office of Contacto OVNI de Colombia, a UFO research group, according to William Chavez Ariza, the group's spokesman.

Contacto OVNI investigator Juan Arana drove out to Cerro Monserrate with his videocamera. He arrived just in time to "film several UFOs performing irregular and unusual maneuvers over the hill and surrounding neighborhoods before flying away suddenly from the area."

Thanks to Daniel Munoz, NotiOVNI of December 1, 2002 and to William Chavez Ariza, Contacto OVNI de Colombia.

On Thursday, November 28, 2002, "an intense UFO wave rolled over" the city of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. UFOs were seen and videotaped by witnesses on the ground in the large South American city.

The main witnesses were Ricardo E. D'Angelo and a companion. "Using a camera described as 'broken and out- of-date,'" D'Angelo "was able to photograph a fleet of three objects descending over the northeastern section of Buenos Aires."

The UFOs flew over the Santa Fe section of the city, north of the Avenida Nueve de Julio. "No apparent electrical anomalies were reported in the witnesses' area."

"Minutes earlier, another object flashed for several minutes over the vicinity of Chacarith and Belgrano," two sections of Buenos Aires, "at an altitude of 1,500 meters (5,000 feet)."

"'Arturo and I saw the entire phenomenon,'" D'Angelo said. He "employed a SONY 360 Nightshot" videocamera to shoot the footage. "'What can be seen in the video sequence is 15 frames of one UFO, hitherto unseen, which crossed the sky from north to south seconds before the first one was observed. But upon reaching a point equidistant from the other two it stopped completely for only brief seconds."

Thanks to Scott Corrales y Lucy Guzman for this report.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) of UK has released various UFO-related documents under latest Freedom Of Information Act 2000 legislations and made them publicly availbale on their web site at (Click on "Freedom of Information Act 2000", then "Search for Information", and enter the keyword "UFO".)

The documents were already accessible to researchers using the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information. The most interesting were already published in UFO Magazine. Among those who urged the MoD to facilitate access to these documents are Georgina Bruni, working with former the former Chief of the Defence Staff Lord Hill-Norton who has been questionning the parliament about the Rendlesham incident for years and was until now told that there are no such documents and that it would cost too much to look for them.

The documents are a brief policy statement on the issue of the Flying Saucers, a 1951 report from the Flying Saucer Working Party, and papers, correspondance and newsclips from the file on the Rendlesham Forest incident.

Overall the released documents look very pale in comparison with the US FOIA released documents.

Around 11:30 PM, on November 27, 2002, an amateur astronomer for the past twenty years was looking and caught sight of the planet Jupiter, rather bright and imposing. He states: "it was a rather chilly evening so I decided to leave my telescope indoors and just do some 'eyeball astronomy'. After a couple minutes I suddenly noticed an object midway up in the east moving south. Its appearance was that of broadly V-shaped gossamer contrail, three full moon diameters wide, without any lights or form of illumination. The object continued to move south steadily. I lost sight of it after twenty seconds!"

The french national TV Channel "France 2" has announced today November 27 that SEPRA is menaced to be shutdown. The mention SEPRA under the name of "SOS OVNI" which has nothing to do with SEPRA. The CNES director is seen saying that SEPRA does not study UFOS but objects not so quickly identified. A few UFO videos are shown. To tell the truth I did not really understand what the meaning of the news was. SEPRA was the official civil study group for UFO and space re-entry phenomenon amidst CNES, Centre National des Etudes Spatiales, and had the sole engineer Jean-Jacques Vélasco as personal.

A couple was on board their yacht, about 60 miles west of Acapulco on November 23, 2002, when they saw a soundless flashing object cross the sky in five seconds, moving ENE to WSW at 9:09 PM. The object was intermittently flashing a bright white light. "My wife thinks it was very high up; if so, its speed must have been enormous. The object may have had more than one light flashing."

Guillermo Aguilera (C.I.O), communicates:

"Location: San Vicente de Tagua Tagua
Sighting Date: 11.21.02
Witness: Luis Sepulveda Castro"

"At 22:00 hours on the date in question, the witness -- a security guard at a corporate warehouse-- went outside the building to look at the sky and was able to see a strange object moving in a NW to SW direction. Using binoculars, he was able to make out the following details:"

"The object was spherical in shape with a red-colored base, giving off intermittent green flashes from its upper section."

"The object moved slowly; the observation had a total duration of 45 minutes."

According to TV critique John Levesque from the newspaper Seattle Post-Intelligencer, the long awaited "The Roswell Crash: Starling New Evidence" documentary by the SCI Channel which is to be aired in the US tonight on Dec. 22 does not hold his promises.

Lesveque said he reviwed a tape of the show and the entire 2 hours documentary could have been packed in a 10 minutes documentary as it adds "nothing that we did not know." He said that no debris has been found by the digging at the crash site.

It was about 4 PM, when the witness saw what looked like a planet or star, but it didn't shine like one. On November 19, 2002, he ran into the house and grabbed his binoculars (12x50) and saw an object about the size of a dime at arm's length. It was "egg shaped" like Billy D said, that had a strange black "scaffolding" structure behind it. The object was pale yellow and was seen for ten minutes. A flash of light appeared below it. An orb like object streaked to the left at an incredible speed, and at arm's length it appeared to be the size of a dime. I was surprised and moved trying to show Billy D as the object streaked away and headed out over the bay. A minute later an object flew over head leaving a huge loom of chemtrail almost in the same spot the UFO was hovering!"

Thanks to George Filer, filersfiles, and Peter Davenport, NUFORC.

The witness reports from Halls Gap, near Melbourne that he was sitting on the back balcony of the Hall's Gap Tavern after a day seeing the sites. He had just taken a picture of a commercial jet traveling west towards Perth simply because he liked the look of the vapor trail at 2:56 PM on Nov 16, 2002. He spotted what he thought was a white feather or possibly a thistle down floating in the in the air 20 degrees above the horizon. He stated, "the quite odd thing about this object was that it wasn't floating about aimlessly like a wind born object, it was going dead straight from west to east across the sky. It was difficult to focus on because it was a fair distance away."

Thanks to George Filer, filersfiles.

Sally T. writes:

"I am a 54 year old grandmother of six. I have had experiences on and off since I was a small child, with the grey's and have been on their ships. I am not one of their testing specimens, the alien I go to shows and tells me things. I am not getting into everything here but I will tell you three things I have been shown or told."

"1) The being told me that they collect plants from all over the earth, because all diseases can be cured from the roots of plants."

"2) The implant tracking device is square and black, and smaller then anything that any human could imagine and that it had to be greatly magnified for me to see it. He said we would have to use our most sophisticated equipment to locate it. It is in the back of the head in the middle of the left lower lobe."

"3) He said we are safe and secure, there is NO equipment made on earth that can reach us, we are in your water's, in the deepest of your water's this is where the air is we can breathe. I'm sure you won't believe what I have written so I will leave it at this, and whatever is to be will be."

Susan writes:

"I have been hearing about creatures (for lack of a better description) that people have been seeing. My daughter was bringing in some wood from the garage and when she was by the front door it blew open and standing there was this figure dressed in a black robe. Sort of like the grim reaper. She set the wood down to get a better look but when she looked up the creature it was gone. She went to work and told one of her friends about the creature. Her friend said, her husband was jogging and also saw a creature in the bushes. I am not sure what they are or why they are here? I was wondering what you thought. I have a feeling that whatever it is, isn't good. Please respond."

The witness emails me on November 13, 2002:

"I was going home from my office today at 06:52 P.M. and in a precise location I saw an object equipped with large headlights in the air, but it was motionless. It stayed there at least 3 minutes before all the lights went out and it started flickering everywhere with red lights then again nothing as if it had completely disappeared. This object was located at the crossroad of the highway and the Carrefour shopping center of Douai in department 59."

I have asked the witness to provide several additional information.

Didier Gomez communicates:

"This Tuesday November 12, at 05:30 P.M., as she was directinh her cows to the cattleshed Mrs. S. observed from Valdériès, a group of seven bright luminous dots. They were laid out in a vertical rhombus firmation of great scale, visible for Albi. This lasted 5, leaving at the end of the observation a blakish trail in the sky. What what it? It's a mystery. The Planet OVNI association wishes to collect possible testimonies on this subject to get more data in order to carry out a mapping of the flightpath. If you also witnessed a similar phenomenon, or if you wish simply to be informed on the matter, feel free to Planet OVNI members and report your observation by leaving your co-ordinates over the 24/24 answering machine of the association:"

After investigating and gathering additionnal witnesses, Didier Gomez communicates on November 14:

"Most of the witnesses that were describing red luminous spots did in fact observe military manoeuvers called TEF 16 "PYGARGUE." This was a shooting exercice including in flight fuel refuelling and all weather low altitude flights."

Morgan G. from Sheboygan Lakefront writes:

"My wife and I were taking our nightly walk on November 10, 2002, and we could clearly see two strange lights on the eastern horizon over Lake Michigan. The lights were not those of a ship, nor were they on the water. They appeared to be just above the water, quite far out in the lake. Upon first sight of the lights, we saw one large shimmering red light accompanied by a smaller white light just to its left. We sat on a bench and watched these lights from 7:30 to 8:45 PM, during which time the red light stayed stationary, but the white light disappeared from view. We began our slow walk home, and as we reached the top of a hill, the small white light was now visible again, only this time it was to the right of the red light's location. About 20 minutes into our observation of these lights, we could clearly hear the rumble of a group of jets, flying over the lake. I am quite certain that this was not a vessel. I have worked on ships, and I know what they look like from a distance, and these lights were different, and above the water. I have seen lots of lights over the lake through the years, but these lights are definitely something that I can't easily put an explanation to."

The SciFi Channel, USA, organized a a four hour Symposium at the George Washington University in Washington DC on november 11, 2002. The subject of the event was "Interstellar Travel and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena: Science Fiction or Science Fact". It was moderated by Ray Suarez, a senior correspondent for "The NewsHour", and the speakers included Dr. Richard Henry, Dr. Michio Kaku, Dr. Bernard Haisch, Dr. Peter Sturrock, Dr. Jacques Vallée, Ted Roe and John Callahan.

The SciFi Channel's President, Bonnie Hammer, said the cable network has straddled the line between science fact and science fiction for a decade. She hoped that the thrust of their effort would help to define that line more clearly, and today's event was a positive step.

A guest stresses that Steven Spielberg's alien abduction TV series "Taken" currently broadcasted by the SciFi channel was not mentioned once during the Symposium, and that there was no effort to promote the 10 hour mini-series.

ABC News in Australia reports several airline pilots have reported sighting a shining unidentified flying object near the south-eastern Chinese city of Nanjing.

A Xiamen Airlines pilot reported the first sighting on Monday and said that he saw a light blue object hovering past his plane. At the same time, pilots of a Shandong airline, which was some 120 kilometres away from the Xiamen airlines plane, also reported a similar sighting and described the UFO as being a white and blue skateboard-shaped craft.

The UFO was believed to be some 70 kilometres above the eastern Bengbu city in Anhui province.

ABC News adds that "in recent years, China has witnessed a surge in UFO sightings."

The witness reports from Virginia Beach on November 4, 2002:

"My wife exclaimed, "Look! What's that in the sky?" I looked up and saw a strangely lit disk shape with a white or blue light blinking on top and bottom. The UFO was lit in a very peculiar manner. It seemed every inch was perfectly lit, as if the object itself was glowing. I checked my watch it was 6:45 PM. The color was a pale greenish. there seemed to be a ring around the disk that was a darker color, perhaps black, though it still was completely visible against the night sky. The only light source I can imagine was from the UFO itself that hovered. The tree line blocked our view, so we lost sight. If the UFO was moving, it was doing so very slowly and in a kind of sliding manner. As soon as we got out of the car, we heard jets roaring by from Naval Oceania Air Base. The jets were flying in two pairs, away from the direction we saw the craft. The speed and throttling of the jets seemed to be slightly abnormal for the weather and night situation."

On November 2, 2002, the witness from Homer Glenn got home, parked his car and got out and heard a strange noise at 2 AM:

"It sounded like a generator or the engine of a diesel truck but with a deeper sound and intervals that were not as fast as you would hear the revs of an idle engine. It was loud, but I could tell it was from a distance. I couldn't pinpoint where it was, so I went in the middle of the cul-de-sac looking down the street thinking that someone had a generator hooked up to his house, then I saw some red, white, and I think blue flashing lights in the sky. I really couldn't tell exactly how high the object was, maybe a mile or two high. I would have thought it was a jet except I heard the murmur before I saw the object and it did not sound anything like the sound jets make. I have never seen jets go so fast before or fly this low. Over head I didn't hear the murmur anymore, it made a higher steady pitch sound for a brief moment and then it was out of hearing range. It was kind of like a diamond shape but not solid all the way through. The lights were alternating strobes that flashed twice within in a second. The object was flying east northeast and covered the entire sky in ten to fifteen seconds."

Peter Davenport found the witness quite credible.

Thanks to Peter Davenport, NUFORC,

The witness from Marysville saw a super bright red-orange light over Puget Sound on November 2, 2002, at 7:55 PM.:

"It was between five to ten miles to our southwest hovering. It looked twenty times bigger than an airplane light at the same distance. It was bobbing up and down and swaying east to west. I called my family outside to verify it. It hovered for about 5 minutes, and was spraying down a red vapor that turned to white. It moved slowly to the northwest upwards and then disappeared. At first we thought it could be a flare, but it didn't go down it hung in the air."

NUFORC notes: We spoke with this witness and found him to be quite credible. Given his profession, he would easily be able to establish whether the object had been any type of aircraft. PD.

Thanks to Peter Davenport, NUFORC,

Friends were sitting in there hot tub on November 1, 2002, when they sighted a bluish white sphere in the southern sky:

"It was very low on the horizon at 7:30 PM, and approximately the size of a tennis ball that suspended in one spot clear of the clouds. It then shot westward extremely fast leaving a bluish white trail. The sighting lasted 3-5 seconds. Just long enough for me to query "Did you see that?" It appeared much like a falling star with an exaggerated descent except for the closeness and the size of the object. We both had never seen anything like it. We both have had many years in aviation and sky watching. This was a novel sighting for both of us. There were aircraft in the sky at this time as well in that we live close to MHT airport."

Thanks to Peter Davenport, NUFORC,

Turkey UFO and Paranormal Events Research Organization [TUVPO] has explained the multiple sightings of bright flying objects seen in that country on November 1 as belonging to the Leonid Meteor shower, which peaks this month sometime between November 17 and 20.

Members of TUVPO's Afyon branch followed up on both the sighting reports filed by the pilots of four aircraft in the vicinity at that time of the incident, and additional eyewitness sightings from cities that included Antalya, Balikesir and Afyon.

Photographs were obtained of the event, and these have been examined by the scientific advisers of TUVPO, plus Prof Dr. M. E. Ozel and Dr. Hafez Keypour, of the Turkey National Observational House.

On Friday, November 1, 2002, at 3:35 p.m., the female witness "was outside when I heard the brrrrrring of a small plane" over Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. "I turned my head to see it travelling in a north to south direction at around 4,000 to 5,000 feet (1,200 to 1,500 meters). It was a small Cessna-type aircraft with light yellow sides and a red tail section. Today was a brilliantly clear day so the colours of the plane were plainly visible."

"Suddenly, my eyes caught a glimpse of another aircraft flying in the same direction, except west of the other and much closer to me. This second object was a much longer craft than the Cessna. In fact, the nose of it extended much farther forward of the small, swept-back wings than the Cessna. It resembled a DC-9 in basic shape, but the wings were very short. The craft was pure white and did not appear to have windows or markings of any kind on the body of the craft."

"It may have been the time of day, but its wings were kind of indistinct and shadowy. But the whole strange part of this is that the farther-away Cessna was travelling at a much higher rate of speed than this object. This object continued very slowly on its southerly course. I have never seen such a large aircraft fly so slowly. In fact, it seemed impossible for a fixed-wing aircraft to do this at all. There was no contrail or noise from the object."

Many thanks to Canadian ufologist Brian Vike, HBCC, for this report.

Brian Vike reports four witnesses watched a UFO while on their way home from their work at 6:30 PM on November 1, 2002. They were on the mitt-in-main forestry road, when they saw a bright, yellowish/white light with a "beam" coming from the bottom of it. The beam of light was like a flashlight shinning in a fog. The witness said they saw it for three seconds before it disappeared. The light did not move, but stayed in the one position and then just disappeared. Considering the distance from the object, the light was small in size.

Many thanks to Canadian ufologist Brian Vike, HBCC, for this report.
