JUNE 3, 1992, MELESSE, ILLE-ET-VILAINE, FRANCE, A WOMAN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

The ufology magazine Lumières Dans La Nuit presented the investigation report by Serge Sorinas for France Ufologie in 1995:

The case occurred on June 3, 1992, beginning at 11:30 p.m. in Mélesse, zip code 35520, at 12 kilometers in the north of Rennes, at the location "Le Cormier" on the communal way 107 at 1 kilometer to the north-north-east of the borough. This communal way is between the secondary road D26 which joins Saint-Germain-sur-Ille to Mélesse, which is roughly in the East-West. It is bordered in the south by a large pasture which is lot 486 of the land register and which belongs to the farm Le Cormier which is in its South-Eastern angle.

The witness is a married woman having asked anonymity, mother of 4 children and employee in a company of [information I do not communicate.]

At the time of the observation, the sky was perfectly clear and starry and the temperature was fine.

The witness drove home in her Citroen BX car after a working day, the trip being of 30 kilometer and a travel she had made for years.

At approaching the crossroads of D26 and VC 107, while coming from Saint-Germain-sur-Ille, her attention was caught by a strong red light. It was hovering above a hedge of tree delimiting contiguous lot 485 of the land register with lot 486.

She was astonished but supposed that it could be the airplane warning light of some crane, and she continued driving by the communal way skirting the lot.

While looking at it better, she noted that the powerful light came from two "headlights" of a stationary craft hovering at this place, and that this craft also had a white light at the back.

Out of curiosity, she slowed down and stopped her car a hundred meters further for looked at it better.

The investigator quotes her saying that when she pulled off, the craft was already there, stationary above a farm, and that it gave her the impression of being on a watch.

After a few moments, the object started to move in the direction of the witness, who stated it moved towards her gently, rather high at the start, and that when it came down, she really saw the interior.

The object came down to a few meters from the ground and a distance that she estimated as 15 meters from her.

The craft was made entirely of transparent material, it did not have any structure or support. She saw with certainty what she described as a dashboard with white and green lights, "something that was working, when it is lit..."

Behind this dashboard, a bald person with a gray combination was distinguished well, including the fact that the outfit comprised a collar. Once asked for more precise details, she told that she did not pay too much attention but that there was a face, a head without hair, that she thought of military operations because the outfit made her think of the army.

She had the thought that it must be a helicopter but rejected this since she always drove with the open window and should have heard the noise. She is certain that the craft made no noise at all since she had turned the radio off to check this [note: the car is stopped at this time].

She started to be worried since she could find an obvious explanation and started to drive off gently without panic. The craft followed on some meters, and suddenly it was not there any more. She looked in her rear view mirror and saw neither the craft nor any light.

She continued her travel and arrived on the road of Rennes, at the D82, which she traversed on 2 kilometers towards the South, and then again located the craft, in the form of a red light, which went away and was "already far, very far" on the tower of Cesson. She found it unthinkable that this craft could carry out a trop of such a distance, approximately 2 kilometers, in such a short amount of time, estimated as of 2 minutes approximately.

The investigator specifies that a confusion with the night illumination of the transmitting tower of Cesson is impossible since the witness also saw the light of this tower, separately from the light of the object.

On her way to work the next day at 02:00 p.m., she passed again at the place, and noted that the top of a tree where the machine had been at the time of its hovering phase had completely died, like "cooked", and she was practically formal to the investigator in saying not to have noticed such a thing before. The investigator questioned the owners of the close farm but whereas they found the state of the tree odd, they had not noticed its state before. It was noted that the remainder of the tree was in perfect health. The owner of the trees was absent and could not be questioned.

The day after the sighting, she had contacted the Gendarmerie of Hédé by telephone, especially with an aim of obtaining information on what she had seen. Her statement was not filed.

There was no psychic or material consequences on the witness.

The investigator specifies that the witness seemed to him a balanced, rational, person, with a very marked sense of observation, that her sight appears excellent, that she does not carry glasses and that she sees very well in the distance, a fact he managed to note during the locations on the sighting location. Her estimates of the distances also were confirmed by the use of the maps.

Her familiarization with the UFO topic was impartial and very limited, coming from reports she heard about and TV shows. she insisted that her peace should be preserved and welcomed the investigator only because one of her colleagues of work was an acquaintance of the investigator.

The investigation report is illustrated with photographs of the places of the observation and two maps indicating the travel of the witness, the various spots of observation, the localizations and supposed trajectories of the UFO.

From the photographs of the places in Serge Sorinas' investigation report, things, transposed into night background, looked as follows:

By approaching the crossroads between D26 and VC 107, the witness sees the red light being just above the tree whose summit will be found dead the next day.

When the witness started on the VC 107, the two "headlights" became discernible.

The place where the witness stopped her car for better observing.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Melesse, France, on June 3, 1992, at 11:30 p.m., one observer saw a 7-foot tall transparent egg-shaped craft hovering low over a pasture. A short humanoid figure was seen standing behind a control panel inside the object. A nearby tree is apparently scorched by heat emitted by the object.

Rosales indicates that the source is LDLN #334.

[Ref. bo1:] BASE OVNI FRANCE:

The case file indicates that in Melesse in the Ille and Vilaine, on June 3, 1992, at 11:30 p.m., by a beautiful clear weather, a woman was driving home by car. At the time when she approached the crossroads of D26, coming from German St on Ille, with the VC107, her attention was attracted by a strong red light located above a nearby field. While looking at it better, she noted that this red gleam in fact was produced by two headlights on an apparatus hovering above a hedge of trees. The object presented also a white rear light. The woman slowed down and stopped her car. The object was motionless, then after a some time it moved in the direction of the witness. It dropped down to a few meters of the ground and arrived at about fifteen meters of the witness. The object was transparent and the woman then visualized a dashboard emitting white and green lights and a pilot seeming to be a bald being wearing a gray outfit. The object was silent. A bit worried, the woman drove again and started to move gently, the object followed on some meters then disappeared from the rear view mirror. Two kilometers towards the south, the woman found her object which was already very distant towards the south. It seems that the top of the trees of the hedge where the object had been died after the sighting.

A comment adds that the pilote was 1.10 meters tall, with a yellow skin, a brown outfit and a un breathing device.

The sources are indicated to be "Lumières dans la Nuit".

Points to consider:

When I opened the file, with the primary source not available, I noted:

"The story is highly interesting, unfortunately its origin is not specified. As it stands, it may have been some anonymous reader's letter to the ufology magazine, with no follow-up investigation, no credibility."

Taking into consideration source [ss1] I later received, these comments have no grounds anymore, and we are left with a really more interesting, and investigated, case.
