JUNE 1978, ALTO ANCHICAYA DAM, ANCHICAYA, COLOMBIA, CRAIG C. DOWNER AND ANOTHER MAN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Janet and Colin Bord, British authors of all sorts of "mystery books", report in 1989 that two American Peace Corps workers, one named Craig C. Downer, saw a "luminous ghost" in the night in the jungle close to the Alto Anchicaya dam in Colombia in June 1978.

They say "the ghost could never be mistaken for a living person because it was much vaguer, luminous, transparent, whitish, cloud-like", with a greenish cast around it.

It allegedly floated just above the ground, approached to within 60 feet of the two men, who fled towards their campsite and did not see the figure depart.

Without further investigation and apparently no rsearch, the story entered two ufology catalogues.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Anchicaya Dam, Colombia, on June 1978, at night, two men working in a jungle area watched a luminous transparent almost cloud like whitish, man like figure, that had a greenish cast around it. The vague figure floated just above the ground as it approached to within 60 feet of the two men. At this point both men ran away towards their campsite and did not see the figure depart.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Janet and Colin Bord, Unexplained Mysteries of The 20th Century."

The website says that in June 1978 at 21:00 at the Anchicaya Dam, Colombia, "Two men working in a jungle area watched a luminous transparent almost cloud like whitish, man like figure, that had a greenish cast around it. The vague figure floated just above the ground as it approached to within 60 feet of the two men. At this point both men ran away towards their campsite and did not see the figure depart."

The source indication is a broken link.

Points to consider:

There is no UFO sighting involved. The "entity" si barely described, it seems it had no feature and was some sort of pack of mist.

Maybe it was just that. It seems it happened in the jungle. There is of course a lake at the dam, so packs of mist could drift from the lake into the jungle, they mave be somehow lighted by moonlight though the trees.
