MAY 15, 1978, CUAJIMALPA DE MORELOS, MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, IGNACIO SANCHEZ MUNOZ:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Various ufology catalogue say that US ufologist Allan Hendry indicated that on May 15, 1978, between "Caujimolpa" and "Obregon", Mexico, on the cloudy evening, Ignacio Sanchez Munoz, age 19, was walking along the road after finishing work at a nearby restaurant.

He allegedly observed a hovering multi-colored luminous cube-shaped object making a buzzing sound and emitting a yellow beam.

He then received telepathic thoughts telling him that the cube was not occupied, but soon human-like beings would arrive on Earth. After conversing with the voice for an hour he was told, "soon we shall return to chat with you."

Narratives:

[Ref. bh1:] ROBERT E. BARTHOLOMEW AND GEORGE S. HOWARD:

The authors indicate that on May 15, 1978, near Caujimolpa, Mexico, walking along a road, Ignacio Sanchez Munoz saw a hovering multicolored luminous cube emitting a buzzing sound and a yellow beam. He then received telepathic thoughts saying the cube was empty, but soon humanlike beings would arrive on Earth. After conversing with the voice for an hour, he was told that "Soon we shall return to chat with you."

The authors indicate that the source is the International UFO Reporter 3, no. 7 July 1978): 2.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Caujimolpa, Mexico, on May 15, 1978, in the evening, walking along a road after work at a restaurant, Ignacio Sanchez Munoz observed a hovering multi colored luminous cube shaped object that was emitting a buzzing sound and a yellow beam. He then received telepathic thoughts saying the cube was empty, but soon human-like beings would arrive on Earth. After conversing with the voice for an hour he was told, "Soon we shall return to chat with you."

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "IUR Vol. 3 #7."

[Ref. ni1:] "THE NICAP WEBSITE":

The website indicates that on May 15, 1978, between Caujimolpa and Obregon, Mexico, "On this cloudy evening Ignacio Sanchez Munoz, age 19, was walking along the road after finishing work at a nearby restaurant. He observed a hovering multi-colored luminous cube shaped object that was making a buzzing sound and emitting a yellow beam. He then received telepathic thoughts telling him that the cube was not occupied, but soon human-like beings would arrive on Earth. After conversing with the voice for an hour he was told, "soon we shall return to chat with you."

The sources are noted as "Allan Hendry, International UFO Reporter, July 1978, p. 1; David F. Webb and Ted Bloecher, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports, case A1940, citing IUR."

[Ref. ud1:] "UFODNA" WEBSITE:

The website indicates that on May 15, 1978, in Cuajimolpa, Mexico, "Telepathic phenomena were said to have occurred. Two objects, about 20 feet across, were observed in cloudy weather by one male 19-year-old witness on a highway for several hours (Sanchez Munoz)."

The sources are indicated as Webb, David, HUMCAT: Catalogue of Humanoid Reports; International UFO Reporter, International UFO Reporter, CUFOS; Hatch, Larry, *U* computer database, Author, Redwood City, 2002.

Points to consider:

"Caujimolpa", name given in all the sources I have, does not exist. It is probably Cuajimalpa de Morelos, generally shortened in Cuajimalpa, a district of Mexico City City.

"Obregon" is likely "Ciudad Obregón", or "Obregón City", the second largest city in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. This means the place is extremely vague, or even dubious, since there is no chance a worker would walk from one place to the other as they are about 500 miles distant.

The fact that the most initial source is Allan Hendry does not speak in favour of the story since Hendry was completely skeptical about the UFO issue, and might have noted it as an example of "ridiculous" story; the same applies with Bartholomew and Howard.

See the List of Issues below for more reason not to claim the story believable.
