[Ref. rb1:] RICK BERRY:

Rick Berry says that in May 1978, at Bel Air Harford county, while investigating sightings at the Galluzzo's property, Stephen J. Stover saw two huge glowing red eyes while scanning at a ridge of trees in the distance.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Jarrettsville, Maryland, on May 1, 1978, at night after several nights of seeing a 7 to 8-foot tall hair covered creature in the grounds of Victor Galluzo's home, investigator Steve Stover reported seeing two huge glowing red eyes while scanning a ridge of trees in the distance. A local psychic who was there then tried to lure the creature, then several witnesses saw a brightly lit craft that began circling the property at a low altitude.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Mark Opsasnick, The Bigfoot Digest."

Points to consider:

Left: Red eyes.

The first explanation of puzzling entities as owls appeared in Charles Fort's 1919 book. It is thus quite ironic that so many Fortean researchers do not consider this possible explanation for such cases, preferring outlandish "explanations" such as "thoughts forms" etc.

In ufology, it was with the infamous Sutton case that former Major Donald Keyhoe, a proponent of the thesis of the alien visitors, proposed that the creature might have been some owl nested in a tree and not an extraterrestrial monster, his opinion being quoted later by Joe Nickell of the skeptic group CSICOP.

Joe Nickell made the explanation his own for this same case, as well as for the case of Kelly in 1955, and according to Joe Nickell, it was then shared by skeptic ufologist Renaud Leclet, France, who then started to look for others such cases where this explanation can apply. I was the only French ufologist to my knowledge not to react to the explanation by useless scoffing, the way it was generally was welcomed in France and also in the United States.

In this case, of course, nothing is sure, the data being so meager. It is said that it was "in the distance", that it was in the night, it seems nobody went to see more closely. As for the "UFO sighting", it is so vague that it could have been anything, like a helicopter for example.
