Narratives:

[Ref. jv1:] JACQUES VALLEE:

Discussing another case, in Redding, California, Jacques Vallée mentions that not far from this other case location, the 12-year-old son of a doctor of the town of Lewiston saw on April 1st, 1978, a strange humanoid creature.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that near Lewiston, California, on August 1, 1978, at an unknown time, there was an undocumented report of a 12-year old, son of a prominent local doctor encountering an unusual humanoid creature not far from a mine in an isolated area. No other information.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Jacques Vallee, Confrontations, A scientist's Search for Alien Contact."

[Ref. dj1:] DONALD JOHNSON:

August 1

1978 - A 12-year-old son of a prominent local doctor encountered an unusual humanoid creature not far from a mine in an isolated area near Lewiston, California. (Source: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1978, case # 917, citing Jacques Vallee, Confrontations: A Scientist's Search for Alien Contact).

Points to consider:

Because he just mentions the case as having occurred near the location of another case at about the same period, mention perhaps made in the simplistic idea that the one gives weight to the other, Jacques Vallée does not give any other indication, and in particular he does not give any source.

Albert Rosales then rightfully notes that the case is undocumented, but he changes the date of April 1 to August 1, although it is clear that such a date is of importance since April 1 is a date traditionally devoted to hoaxes. Donald Johnson copies that, therefore without having checked in Vallées' book.
