JANUARY 18, 1978, ANLABY, YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER, U-K., FOUR YOUNG MEN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Fortean researcher and ufologist Nigel Watson apparently briefly reported in Fortean magazines in the 1990's about a case in Anlaby, Yorkshire and the Humber, U-K., on January 18, 1978, in the evening.

One second-hand version tells that "four young men" playing in the local schoolyard heard a sharp whistling sound and, looking up, saw a round silvery object with windows and changing colors. It landed on the flat roof of the schoolhouse and three beings emerged from the object.

They were described as small and wearing gold colored suits, lacking any arms, and connected to the object by "tubes" from their backs.

As "the witness" watched, the beings ran back into the object; which took off slowly, while "one of the witnesses" saw through a hole in the bottom the beings apparently returning to some seats inside the craft.

Another second-hand version tells of only one witness, a child, instead of "four young men", and a third second-hand version tells of four boys, specifying that the saucer was "just how you would imagine a flying saucer", shot away "like a boomerang", and that Nigel Watson commented that "the Hull vicinity has a history of strange seemingly hallucinatory cases of this sort".

Narratives:

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Anlaby, North Humberside, England, on January 18, 1978, in the evening, four young men were playing in the local schoolyard when they heard a sharp whistling sound and looked up to see a round silvery object with windows, and changing colors landing on the flat roof of the schoolhouse. Three beings emerged from the object. They were described as small and wearing gold colored suits and lacking any arms. Tubes came from their backs and apparently were connected into the object. As the witness watched, the beings ran back into the object which took off slowly, one of the witnesses saw through a hole in the bottom the beings apparently returning to some seats inside the craft.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Nigel Watson, Strange Magazine #10."

Golden Men

Location: Anlaby (Yorkshire) - Anlaby school, playing ground

Type: UFO

Date / Time: 18 January 1978

Further Comments: A youngster playing in the grounds of the school watched a round craft land and three figures dressed in golden clothing climb out. The child ran off to find friends to tell, and when he returned with someone the craft was already back in the sky - it quickly flew off.

[Ref. in1:] ON THE INTERNET:

Someone posted that he just came across an interesting local UFO report from the Fortean Times of an event in January 1978:

Nigel Watson indicates that on January 18, 1978, an atypical UFO encounter took place at Anlaby school, not far from Hull. Four boys playing in the schoolyard heard a whistling and looked up to see an object "just how you would imagine a flying saucer" constantly shifting colors and land on the school's flat roof.

Fascinated, they watched as three "people" emerged from the object; they were wearing gold-colored suits, had no visible arms and trailed "wires" which led back to the object. At the boys' commotion, the beings returned to their craft which shot away "like a boomerang".

"Fortean Times contributor Nigel Watson reports that the Hull vicinity has a history of strange seemingly hallucinatory cases of this sort".

Points to consider:

Fragmentary and contradictory from one version to another, the story does not stand out by its credibility.
