JANUARY 4, 1978, WROSE, WEST YORKSHIRE, U-K., SOMEONE:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Ufologist Nigel Watson reportedly told in a 1990 book that on January 4, 1978, at night, in Wrose, West Yorkshire, U-K., someone was lying in bed when a short silvery transparent figure suddenly appeared hovering above the bed.

It is descreibed as human-like, wearing a monk-like robe, and with some short wing-like protrusions and a bright halo-type light around its head. It suddenly vanished in plain sight.

Narratives:

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Wrose, England, on January 4, 1978, at night, the witness was lying in bed when a short silvery transparent figure suddenly appeared hovering above the bed. It seemed human like and was wearing a monk like robe. It also appeared to have some short wing like protrusions and a bright halo type light around its head. It suddenly vanished in plain sight.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is "Nigel Watson, Portraits of Alien Encounters."

[Ref. dj1:] DONALD JOHNSON:

Donald Johnson indicates that on January 4, 1978, the witness was lying in his bed in Wrose, England on this night when a short silvery transparent figure suddenly appeared hovering above the bed. It seemed human like and was wearing a monk like robe. It also appeared to have some short wing like protrusions and a bright halo type light around its head. It vanished in plain sight.

The source is indicated as Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1978, case 1790, citing Nigel Watson, Portraits of Alien Encounters.

The website provides the summary by Albert Rosales as in [ar1], indicated as source.

Points to consider:

There is no UFO, and the being seems more like some sort of religious figure, an angel, than a being from another planet: a monk-like robe, silver, small winglets, a halo around the head. Unfortunately we are not told what the witness thought the being was.

The experience likely occurred when the person was asleep. Although the information is insufficient, of unknown origin and with a witness whose age is not even indicated, this is obviously one of the numerous hypnagogic hallucination experiences changed into a "humanoid encounter" for no valid reason.

I provide a few references among dozens about the topic of hypnagogic hallucination and sleep paralysis:
