NOVEMBER 19, 1968, PIRASSUNUNGA, SAO PAOLO, BRAZIL, JAIME, LUIS, WALTER, OSMAR:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

The Brazilian ufology group SBEDV reported that on November 19, 1968, at 11:00 p.m., close to Pirassununga, state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, four university students whose first names were Jaime, Luis, Walter, and Osmar, were driving towards Pirassununga.

They observed a light in the sky, which approached with less than 30 or 40 meters from their car and caused a failure of its engine. After 5 to 10 minutes, the light passed in front of them, having the aspect of a bluish luminous disc of approximately a meter in diameter, without no clue how this size was estimated.

The car functioned again, but did not develop any speed. After the students passed the luminous object, the car started to behave normally.

Then, they nearly run over a man who was on the road with his right arm extended, as if he was asking to be taken for a ride in the car. Three other men stood near the road. They all tall and were dressed in what is described as a clear blue diving suite. The students continued to drive.

Narratives:

[Ref. hd1:] HENRI DURRANT:

Henri Durrant indicates that on November 19, 1968, four entities were seen on the road at the entry of Pirassununga by four students.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERTO ROSALES:

Albert Rosales notes that on November 19, 1968 at 11:00 p.m., near Pirassununga, Sao Paulo, Brazil, four college students identified only as Jaime, Luis, Walter, and Osmar who were driving to Pirassununga encountered a light in the sky. The light approached to within 30 - 40 meters of their car and caused its engine to fail. After 5 to 10 minutes, the light went on ahead of them, appearing as a bluish luminous disc of about a meter in diameter. The car would now run, but would not develop any speed. After they had passed the luminous object the car began to behave normally.

Then they almost ran down a man in the road who had his right arm extended, as though he was asking for a lift. Three more men were standing beside the road; like the first, they were all tall, and dressed in light blue diving suits. The students drove past them.

Rosales indicates SBEDV as the source.

Points to consider:

This unfortunately a case for which I am missing information. The information might exist; but as it is not available to me I do not know whether the case was investigated or whether it was just something that appeared in a newspaper, and I know of no follow-up operation. It would be thus premature to exclude anything: these students might have been confused, or might have elaborated a hoax, or maybe the really did encounter some aircraft and its occupants.
