SEPTEMBER 10, 1965, GARAHUNS, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL, ANTONIO PAU FERRO:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

Antonio Pau Ferro, caterer in the Prefecture of Garahuns, was the owner of a small fertile land at a place called Sao Joao, where at his spare time, he took care of plantations of maize, beans, tomatoes, tobacco and manioc.

On September 10, 1965, Antonio worked in the ploughing, when at 08:30, hearing a noise in the vicinity, he looked, and saw two objects of metallic luminosity go down from the sky, at some 8 meters from where he was. They had a circular shape, about 1.5 meters in diameter for 80 centimeters in height.

They touched the ground, both at the same time, in uniform movements, like synchronized, then went up to five meters and stopped moving. When touching the ground, they left there two humanoids who would not be more than 70 or 80 centimeters tall. Those immediately approached the farmer, who was observing without moving, on a rise of the ground, holding himself at a branch of tree, terrified, thinking that "the end of the world arrived". But the "small beings" made a half-turn and moved again towards where their craft were.

From there, they looked at Antonio with an affectionate and kind glance and, as if they had changed their minds, they again moved to him, nevertheless more gently. They stopped when one of them picked up a tomato, that he showed to the other one. They exchanged some words in a strange language that the caterer did not understand. They then played with the tomato.

Calmer now, Mr. Antonio Ferro asked what they wanted and where they came from. They did not answer, they only smiled and turned to their craft. They stood below them, each one under his own. The craft came down on them, wrapping them, the whole in the same movement, at the same time. They then took off, always synchronized, at the beginning with a "whining" sound and then with a very loud and low sound. At some time, the observer had the feeling that, between the two cosmic machines, side protrusions had formed. Both during their descent and during their takeoff, the discs caused a strong gust of wind agitating the maize plants.

In an interview with SBEDV ufologist Dr Walter Bulher, Antonio Pau Ferro added that he had no details about the clothing of the crew members, because he had been too much awestruck, but he did state they were adult people, with heads and members proportioned to the rest of their body. On their face and their hands, the skin was smooth, without roughness. The fingers did not have folds in the articulations, unlike humans have, and "they resembled these figures Mr. Olegário Guillerme da Rocha has in his farm..."

Antonio Pau Ferro, caterer in the Prefecture of Garahuns, was the owner of a small fertile land, where at his spare time, he took care of plantations of maize, beans, tomatoes, tobacco and manioc. It is there that he lived the greatest adventure of his life.

On September 10, 1965, Antonio worked in the ploughing, when at 08:30, hearing a noise in the vicinity, he looked and saw two objects of metallic luminosity go down from the sky, at some 8 meters from where he was. They had a circular form, with about 1.5 meters in diameter for 80 centimeters in height.

At a givent time, the observer had the impression that, between the two cosmic machines, side protrusions had formed. Both during their descent and during their takeoff, the discs caused a strong gust of wind agitating the maize plants.

In an interview with the researcher of the SBEDV, Mr. Antonio Pau Ferro added that he had no details about the clothing of the crew members, because he had been too much awestruck, but he did state they were adult people, with heads and members proportioned to the rest of their body. On their face and their hands, the skin was smooth, without roughness. [Ref. gc1:] GORDON CREIGHTON:

The British ufologist indicates that on September 10, 1965 at 08:30 of the morning, Antonio Paul Ferro, a black farmer, aged 45, worked in his maize field when he heard "an impetuous and whistling noise" and, turning over, he saw two luminous discs approximately 1 m 50 of width by a 60 centimeters thickness - whereas a newspaper had said it was 3 meters of width and 1 meter in thickness.

The discs landed slowly a little below him, on the side of the hill. When they were within some 30 centimeters of the ground, they stopped then rose at 5 meters approximately, leaving behind them two small beings of 70 or 80 centimeters who, apparently, had come out of the discs.

These small creatures resembled men, well proportioned, with beardless faces and a dye of an astonishlingly smooth red-brown, "exactly like wax", and normal eyes. They wore very tight-fitted one-piece clothes, but the farmer was too amazed to note more details.

He remained there, terror-struck, tightening in a hand its pickaxe and resting against a tree. The creatures approached him but apparently perceived his fear and went back from there.

He heard them speak in a unintelligible language, and at the very time when he thought: "they could be these people of the flying saucers about which one speaks?", the creatures turned back, smiled, and came close to him, examining on the way a seedling of tomatoes and picking a fruit off. But they soon moved away again, the discs that hovered came down, they apparently climbed on board because when the discs jumped up in the air with a whistling sound, they were not there any more.

The terrorized witness told to a nearby farmer, Oligario Guilherme da Rocha, what he had seen.

Dr. W. Buhler investigated on the location in August 1966 and saw Mr. da Rocha, who told him that when his neighbor told him the story of the little men, he was shaking so much that he could not stay standing and had to sit down, and his face, normally black, had become positively yellow.

Dr. Buhler discovered that although nobody else saw the discs or the entities, two residents of the village had heard the strange buzzing sound.

Gordon Creighton indicates as sources Jornal do Comercio, Recife, Brazil, September 14, 1965, Tribuna de Santos, Santos, Brazil, September 12, 1965, a letter by Dr W. Buhler to him, on August 28, 1965, reporting Dr Buhler's personal investigation of the Sao-Joao landing, and the S.B.E.D.V. Bulletin, for January / June 1966.

[Ref. cl1:] CORAL AND JIM LORENZEN:

The authors indicate that in Sao Joao, State of Pernambuco, Brazil, on September 10, 1965, at 08:30 a.m., a strange hum accompanied the appearance of a disc 5 feet in diameter which reportedly landed as farmer Antonio Pau Ferro was working his maize field. The object "landed, then ascended to about a foot from the ground, leaving two small manlike creatures (less than 3 feet tall) on the ground. They were well-proportioned, beardless, had smooth, reddish-brown complexions. and wore tight-fitting one-piece garments.

The witness clung to a tree in terror as the little men approached him, chattering to each other in an unintelligible language. They examined some tomato plants and picked a tomato, then got into their craft which took off vertically with a high-pitched hum.

During the investigation carried out by Dr. W. Buhler, the doctor noted that Ferro literally shook while relating the experience and had to sit down. Although no one else saw the landed discs or their occupants, several in the area heard the humming sound.

In his catalogue of UFO landings, Jacques Vallée indicates that on September 11, 1965, at 08:00 a.m., in Guarulhos, Brazil, Antonio Pau Ferro saw two objects land. Two dwarfish beings emerged, 70 cm tall, dressed like humans, with "ugly" skin. They appeared to examine some tomato plants, reentered their craft, 6 meters in diameter, and flew off. They spoke in a language which was not understood.

The Belgian ufologist indicates that on September 10, 1965 in Brazil in Sao Joao in the state of Pernambouc, at 8:30 a.m., Antonio Pau Ferro, a black farmer, worked in his maize field when he heard "an impetuous whistling noise" and, turning round, he saw two luminous discs of approximately 1 m 50 of width by 60 cm thickness land slowly a little below him, on the side of the hill. They stopped then raised to 5 m approximately, giving up behind them two small beings from 70 to 80 cm in height, which apparently had come out of the discs. The small creatures resembled men, were well proportioned, with beardless faces and a very smooth red-brown complexion "exactly like wax" and normal eyes. They wore very fitting clothing of only one piece. Terrorized, the farmer rested against a tree, tightening in a hand his pickaxe and the creatures which had approached left while speaking a unintelligible language. When the farmer thought "Are they these people of the flying saucers about which one speaks?" they turned back, smiled, approached him, examined in the passing a seedling of tomatoes and tore off a fruit, then moved away, and the hovering discs came down and the small beings apparently went on board there when the discs sprang vertically with a high pitched noise, the small men had disappeared (...)

[Ref. bu1:] UFO MAGAZINE BRAZIL:

The magazine's web site indicates that on September 10, 1965, farmer Antonio Pau de Ferro Da Silva heard a buzzing sound and soon two discoidal UFOs appeared, of one meter and half in diameter by 60 cm in height, that remained hovering at 30 cm of the ground. Two ETs came out, of a 70 cm stature, sunk skin, in tight-fitted clothes, and they examined a tomato plantation, picking up some of them and then smiled to establish a contact. They then turned over to the objects; which took off vertically, emitting a buzzing sound.

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Sao Joao, Pernambuco, Brazil, on September 10, 1965, at 0830 a.m., Antonio Pau Ferro, a farmer, was working in his cornfield when he heard a rushing noise and saw two luminous discs 5 ft wide and two feet thick coming down nearby. They discharged two small beings, 27-31" tall and then rose to hover a 15 ft. The entities had reddish brown wax-like complexions and wore tight fitting one piece-garments. They spoke an unknown language, smiled at the witness, and picked a tomato; then the discs came down and picked them up, rising vertically with a whistle. The farmer said that they appeared quite human, except for the strange skin color and their size.

Albert Rosales indicates as source Dr Walter Buhler, SBEVD.

The website indicates that on September 10, 1965, at 08:30 a.m., in Sao Joao, Brazil, one experienced male witness, a farmer, Pau Ferro, A., in a cornfield heard rushing, and saw two 5' wide luminous discs come down, two 27-31" or 2.5-foot tall small men got out, with red-brown waxy complexions, wore tight coveralls, they picked a tomato, they spoke an unintelligible language. The discs departed by rapidly flying straight up until lost to sight. There was multiple independent witnesses.

Points to consider:

The case is certainly not some "perception error" of "natural phenomena"; the possibility that the witness invented his story, although by no means obvious, cannot, however, completely ruled out.
