Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

An encyclopaedia of Spanish close encounters by Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos and Fernandez Peri published in 1987 reported that in July 1939, or on July 1, 1939 according to another source, at midday, young children looked after cattle in Zahara de los Atunes, Cadiz, Spain, sitting in the shade under some large trees, when some goats of the vicinity were agitated and rushed down a nearby hill.

They then saw a flying object, 18 meters in diameter, of metallic appearance, flying low above them, producing a feeling of intense heat.

The craft, which had a band of red, yellow and green lights around its edge, landed within approximately 30 meters of them on a close clearing, emitting a strong whistling noise while it touched the ground, kicking up a dust storm.

A door opened and a large being dressed of a silvery metallic outfit, with a head cover and a broad belt emerged, quickly followed by a smaller character, squatted, dressed the same. Their silver outfit covered their faces, and both had two black holes where the eyes should have been.

Taking out an object resembling a flaslight which lit the surroundings in spite of the fact that it was midday, they went approximately twenty step, or 50 meters, from the UFO, then made a half-turn, and reinstated the craft which rose at an enormous speed.

The encounter lasted 15 minutes, and it is said that ground traces were found; which would have still been visible in 1980.

Two months later, on July 1, 1939, several children who looked after cattle in Zahara de los Atunes (Cádiz) witnessed a flying object eighteen meters in diameter. When the UFO flew over their heads at low altitude, they felt a sensation of extreme heat. The object landed with a whistling sound some 30 meters away, kicking up a dust storm. A door emerged on the object's side and two beings emerged from within, one of them tall, and the other short and squat bearing a sort of flashlight which was able to illuminate the surroundings despite the fact that it was noon. After walking some twenty paces away from the UFO, the beings turned around and re-entered the craft. The strange encounter lasted 15 minutes.

Albert Rosales indicates in his catalogue that in Zahara De Los Atunes, Cadiz, Spain, in July 1939 at noon, several young children were resting in the shade under some large trees when some nearby goats became agitated and stampeded down a nearby hill. Soon a huge metallic disc shaped craft flew low above the witnesses emitting a strong heat wave. The craft descended and landed amidst a great cloud of dust on a nearby clearing, emitting a loud whistling sound as it touched the ground, the craft had a band of red, yellow and green lights around its edge. A door opened and a tall figure clad in a silvery metallic outfit, with headgear and a wide belt emerged, quickly followed by a shorter similarly dressed figure. They both walked in very stiff movements. Their silvery suit covered their faces and both had two black holes where the eyes should have been, both figures took out an object resembling a flashlight and walked 50 yards away from the object. They eventually returned into the object, which ascended at tremendous speed. Ground traces were said to have been found and were supposedly still visible in 1980.

The source is indicated as "Ballester Olmos & Fernandez Peri, Enciclopedia de Los Encuentros Cercanos con Ovnis".

[Ref. js1:] JEAN SIDER:

The author indicates that in July 1939 at midday, in Zahara of los Atunes, Cadiz, several children who kept cows in the shade of a clump of trees were alerted by the inopportune goose cackle not far from them, and as they were worried about that they saw a flying object estimated at 18 meters in diameter, which came to fly over the witnesses at low altitude, and emitted a strong wave of heat.

It landed in a clearing with a whistling noise at 30 meters of the children while causing a turbulence of dust. It had a band of red, yellow, and green lights on its circumference.

A door opened on one on the sides and two beings emerged, one very tall, the other one small, in squatted position. The tallest wore a metal suit of silver appearance, with a broad belt and held a kind of flashlight which strongly lit in spite of the daylight. The smallest was dressed in the same way.

After having made about thirty step with rigid movements, the creatures came back to their craft. The encounter lasted approximately a quarter of hour and there are no other details.

Jean Sider indicates that the sources are FSR, vol. 51, #1, 2006, page 26; and "Rosales, according to Ballester-Olmos et Fernandez-Peri, Enciclopedia de Los Encuentros Cercanos con Ovnis."

Points to consider:

The origin of the story, when it was reported, by whom and to whom, is unknown to me.
