1930, Bradshaw, Greater Manchester, U-K., Colonel Hambridge:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

In 1979, the prolific ghost stories book writer Peter Underwood apparently wrote that one evening in 1930, in Bradshaw, England, Colonel Hambridge, a guest at Bradshaw Hall, saw a figure dressed in a long piece of clothing walking slowly along an upstairs passage, making no noise as it did so. But there was no such person in the hall.

The story was presented like this in the ufology catalog INTCAT of the British "skeptical" ufologist Peter Rogerson.

Points to consider:

Peter Underwood (1923 - 2014) was an English author, broadcaster and parapsychologist described as "an indefatigable ghost hunter". He wrote no less than 55 books about alleged hauntings within the United Kingdom, beginning the trend of comprehensive regional "guides" to alleged "haunted" places.

Peter Rogerson was a "skeptical" British ufologist who had undertaken a catalog of alleged "entity" sightings, called INTCAT. He included stories of ghosts and other ancient cases with no intrinsic connection to UFO sighting reports in the idea of demonstrating that human misinterpretations and inventions always existed, and that "close encounters of the third kind" are therefore also misinterpretations and inventions. At the same time, he criticized "proponent" ufologists for taking such old stories as alien encounters of the past.

It is at least perfectly obvious, I hope, that this story without any element of credibility has nothing to do with the question of UFO occupants.
