1910, WESTERN YAROSLAVL, RUSSIA, TWO MEN:

Brief summary of the event and follow-up:

It seems that a one Valeriy A. Kukushkin, of a UFO group in Yaroslavl named "Chemiras of the X Location" reported that in a village of the province of Western Yaroslavl, Russia, in 1910-1913, several horses were found to be missing; which created a big commotion.

People initially thought gypsies of the area were responsible, but the latter managed to convince the villagers that they had nothing to do with it.

The villagers reportedly organized a ambush to catch the robber in the night, and two men of the same village were caught, a man and his son. During the interrogation, they confessed and said, "We are sorry, the devils bewildered us, promising money for the horses."

"What devils?" the villagers asked. "The greenish ones, with the hoofs", the thiefs allegedly said. They were not believed and were immediately shot down.

And this entered a ufology catalogue.

Narratives:

[Ref. ar1:] ALBERT ROSALES:

Albert Rosales indicates that in the West Yaroslavl Province, Russia, in 1910-1913, at an unknown time, several horses were reported missing in a local village, which created a huge stir. At first the locals thought area Gypsies were responsible, but these convincingly denied being involved. Local villagers organized an ambush one night in order to nab the thieves. Incredibly two men from the same village were caught, a man and his son. During interrogation they confessed and said, "We are sorry, the devils bewildered us, promising money for the horses". "What devils" asked the villagers, "The greenish ones, with the hoofs". Was their incredible answer. They were not believed and they were immediately shot.

Albert Rosales indicates that the source is Valeriy A Kukushkin, Yaroslavl UFO Group "Chimeras of the X Location", Anton Anfalov.

Points to consider:

I totally fail to see why this story should be included in ufology literature. There is no UFO here, only two men who likely made up a devils story based on local superstition as an excuse for stealing horses; which is obviously severely sanctioned - if the story is genuine at all.
