ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

According to a UFO website which calls for additional witness on August 14, 2012, someone reported a UFO sighting for August 11, 2012, at 11:35 p.m., from Wittelsheim Graffenwald in the Haut-Rhin.

Call for witnesses - August 11, 2012 - Ufo in Alsace

By odhtv in - UFO/AFO news on August 14, 2012 at 01:24 p.m.

We are looking for witnesses who observed on August 11, 2012, orange gleams in Alsace.

Witness statement:

"At 11.35 p.m., Alsace, Haut - Rhin Wittelsheim Graffenwald, observation of a luminous orange-red object with two very close yellow dots, a halo surrounding it, watched for 20seconds going roughly at the speed used by the iss from the north west, towards the south west, it brightened, from yellow to white before disappearing and reappearing much further away heading west towards the Thann valley."

If you observed a similar phenomenon, please contact us at:

Graffenwald is a district and a forest about 3 km south-southwest of Wittelsheim.

The report gives neither angular sizes nor angular displacement nor elevation. That is enough to prevent me to guess what it could have been: helicopter or helicopters, plane or planes, alien craft...

Unidentified, low strangeness, insufficient information.
