ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

Case between Entzheim and Molsheim, in May 2005:

Summary:

On June 8, 2005, I received a testimony by e-mail from a reader of my website, who claimed what follows:

In May 2005, at 01:52 a.m. in the night, he and another person were on the highway between the Entzheim Airport and the village of Molsheim in the Bas-Rhin department.

They saw a triangular object with three red lights at each end, completely silent. At the time when it was the closest to their car, it was less than 20 meters away.

The craft made a slow passage and accelerated tremendously, veering or getting up at 90° on theit right side.

The witness assured that there was no night flights at the airport then, the proof being that all the airport lights were off.

He indicates that the total silence of the object proves it was not a plane, that he is used to takin that road, and as an aviation buff, he knew the sounds produced there by the airliners such as the Fokker 100, Saab, Airbus A320 etc.

He insists that this was not an airplane, and that it was not from the Earth, and thinks that the goal of the object was to be seen because it put on a "show" to them with its slow passage close of their vehicle.

The above map shows the Entzheim Airport, on the right, the village of Molsheim, top left, and the A352 highway on the bottom. The witness did not specify his exact position between the Entzheim airport and Molsheim, we only know they were on the highway somewhere between these two places, and saw the lights of the airport off. Between these two places, the highway trip is almost 10 kilometers long.

It is not possible for me to say much about this observation. This could be totally invented by a prankster. Taken at face value, with a passage at less than 20 meters from the car, the reported total silence, it would be totally pointless to claim that this would nevertheless be a plane or helicopter.

The "less worst trivial explanation" I would propose would be that the car was overflown, followed, by a police helicopter, that would not have been just 20 meters away but more like 100 meters away.

It remains for me and for the time an "unidentified", but with an unknown credibility, and some information is missing: no exact date, no duration, no precise positions, no angular size, no heading, etc.

When I published the story for the first time on June 8, 2005, I, as seen in [pgs1], hid the location information, and more. This was in the hope that other testimonies would surface, if they had the correct place, and if the identity of these potential witnesses could be established, there would have been the possibility of matching independent reports or negative reports. But nothing happened (I searched the web again on December 7, 2014 and still found nothing).
