ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Horbourg-Wihr, on August 15, 1998:

Case number:

ALSACAT-1998-08-15-HORBOURGWIHR-1

Summary:

An article in the newspaper L'Alsace, Colmar issue for August 15, 1998, indicated that the "Centre d'Etudes OVNI France" claimed to have collected testimonies on what is described as an "unidentified object", and following their mention of this the day before, a resident of Horbourg-Wihr, Francoise Petermann, told the newspaper she had observed a similar phenomenon in the night of Saturday, August 14, 1998 to Sunday, August 15, 1998.

She told:

"It was about 11:30 p.m.. I was just watering my garden when something in the sky caught my attention. It was white lights forming a triangle. I do not remember hearing a noise. It happened very quickly."

Mrs. Petermann thought she was dealing with "a bizarre plane" until her brother's wife, domiciled in Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine, gave her the same story, adding that "two red dots were placed at the rear of the triangle. The UFO advanced slowly, quite high. It was like he was hovering."

The Meyenheim Air Force Base said that no military activity had occurred that night on that sector.

New UFOs:

As we noted in ous issue of yesterday's, the centre d'études OVNI France [study center UFO France] claims to have gathered evidence on what is described as an "unidentified object". Following the publication of this article, a resident of Horbourg-Wihr, Francoise Petermann, pointed us have found a similar phenomenon in the night from Saturday [14 August 1998] on Sunday [15 August 1998].

"It was about 11:30 p.m. I was just watering my garden when something in the sky caught my attention," she explained. "They were white lights forming a triangle. I do not recall hearing a noise. It happened very quickly." Mrs. Petermann thought she was dealing "with a bizarre plane" until her brother's wife, resident of Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine, gave her a identical anecdote. The latter adds that "two red dots were placed at the back of the triangle. The UFO advanced slowly, quite high. You got the feeling it was hovering." At Meyenheim Air Force Base, it is specified that no military activity took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, in this sector.

That blog presents several cases in Alsace they fished on the web, including this one::

And a brief article in the regional press on an observation of three hovering lights doing there, like so many other matters to the four corners of the world.

Note that the article mentions an observation with several reports in previous days, and the stepsister of her witness reported a similar experience.

Alsace - Colmar Edition - Saturday, August 15, 1998.

As we noted in yesterday's edition, the UFO research center France claims to have gathered evidence on what is described as an "unidentified object". Following the publication of this article, a resident of Horbourg-Wihr, Frances P., we said it had found a similar phenomenon in the night from Saturday to Sunday. "It was about 23 am 30. I was just watering my garden when something in the sky caught my attention," she explained. "They were white lights forming a triangle. I do not recall hearing a noise. It happened very quickly." Mrs. Petermann thought dealing "in a bizarre plane" until his brother's wife, domiciled in Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine, entrusted him the same story. The latter adds that "two red dots were placed at the back of the triangle. The UFO advanced slowly, quite high. It was like he was treading."

At the Meyenheim Air Base, it is specified that no military activities took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday, on this sector.

There is no source reference for this case, cited among other cases. There is simply, at the end of the article, a series of links to several ufology websites and web pages, including a link to the old URL of the home page of my own website.
