ALSACAT:

ALSACAT is my comprehensive catalog of UFO sighting reports in Alsace, the region is the North-East of France, whether they are "explained" or "unexplained".

The ALSACAT catalog is made of case files with a case number, summary, quantitative information (date, location, number of witnesses...), classifications, all sources mentioning the case with their references, a discussion of the case in order to evaluate its causes, and a history of the changes made to the file. A general index and thematic sub-catalogs give access to these Alsatian case files.

Case of Kingersheim, in 1979 or 1980:

Case number:

ALSACAT-1979-00-00-KINGERSHEIM-1

Summary:

I got the story of the following observation from the person who says he witnessed it. He communicated it to me by phone on January 24, 2005. The call began at 07:10 p.m. and ended at 07:22 p.m., a duration of 12 minutes. The witness told me he found my phone number - and that the UFO topic interests me - on the web (where it actually appears in several lists of UFO investigators).

The witness told me his name - an Alsatian name - his first name, phone number, mailing address in Kingersheim. I keep all this confidential.

In 1979 or 1980 - the witness does not remember the date - he stood up early as usual to drive his wife to work at "Belin" (a local factory). At 5:00 a.m., he was back home. It was daylight, but the sun had not yet risen in the sky.

He then opened the room shutters, and at this time, a UFO flew exactly above the house. He ran into the kitchen to be able to see it again, logically, on the other side of the house, as the direction taken by the UFO suggested. He did see it there by the kitchen window.

He actually sees it right in front of the kitchen window, close, stationary, near a tree that was cut later.

The UFO was egg-shaped, and it was silent (or no sound was audible from it, I note).

At this time, the witness said that he "lost track of time."

On interrogation, I understood that the UFO was currently at a height of twenty feet above the ground, the witness' kitchen beings located on the third floor of a residence of several apartments.

The UFO then rose at a rate that the witness estimated as 80 km/h, and went "in the direction of Germany," i.e., on my interrogation, that it had come from the west and then left towards the east.

In the evening, the witness watched the German television - he does not remember the cannel - and a on a weather satellite photo shown during the weather report, he sees with great emotion, a UFO.

A few years later, he saw the UFO again, this time is was upright and "disappeared as if it had become invisible," he said, describing "the impression made on his eyes."

Again "a few years later, in the 1990s," with friends, he observed "a kind of cylinder."

He never told this to anyone before, not even the police, only his wife knew about it.

The witness then told me about his mindset after these experiences. He told me that since then he is able to "feels it when someone wants to do bad things to him." He said he completely changed "from a religious point of view," and feels like "observed" . He also told me he now has the ability to "predict accidents in advance." He told me his experiences made him feel a great respect for the environment, for nature, for "animals, and men."

He that said at the time of his first observation, he wondered a lot about the method the UFO used to fly like it did.

He thinks that his first observation was a "by chance", but he feels that the following observations were not due to chance (I understand thereby this matches his idea that he is "observed", like he said earlier.

Discussion:

Map.

Obviously I cannot "scientifically prove" that my interlocutor was telling the truth or invented the story. If he told the truth, I do not see any better explanation: he saw an alien craft.

If I put aside the need of proof of veracity, I can give my subjective feelings.

I sometimes read similar reports from other UFO researchers from across the world. They dealt with a person who told them an "incredible" story a priori, and they published the story. The alleged effect on the witness of his alleged experience is sometimes of the very same nature: a kind of "change of consciousness", with changes in religious beliefs, or an "environmentalist" awareness. Or "psychic" gifts such as prediction; which would not have existed before the "encounter" with the UFO. In short, stuff that can make you smile.

My problem is that I sometimes had stories that "made me smile" - or cry - but then it was clear, hearing the alleged witness, that there was a big problem of, let's say, "psychological" or "psychiatrical" nature. This was evident in the content of the speech, filled with nonsensical digressions, a kind of "new age blah blah" with "energies", "higher powers", "waves", and quote of all the kinds of nonsense which can be read in some "specialized" magazines. The person would also mention relationship problems, social issues, for example, and the words themselves, confused, vague, disorganized, made it clear that the UFO or other alleged experience had little chance of being anything but a more or less severe delusion.

I can just say I did not get this sort of experience with this man. Except the "extraordinary" of the experiences he reported, he said nothing that would allow me to doubt his sanity, he served no esoteric or New Age or mystical speech. I am well aware that this is no scientific fact, but I wanted to tell about it.

So, I found that "out of the ordinary" UFO experiences stories - this is not some lights high in the sky - also exist in Alsace.

Ufologists much more famous than I, such as Jacques Vallee, Philip Imbrogno, Bob Pratt, harvested and published similar stories. I am well aware that these stories cannot put ufology into the realms of the "hard sciences", but I think not to report such stories would be a mistake.

I still want to give some supplements.

In my table of geographic data, I note that the accuracy of the location of the witness is 1 meter. It is really true, but I do not publish the address of the witness, so I obviously do not give the latitude and longitude.

When I wrote that the UFO was close to the window, I could not give a distance because its size was unknown. However I can tell that according to the witness, the object filled a quarter of the window behind which he stood, with a distance of 20 cm to 1 m between him and the window.

The presentation of the story that I give here is not from "distant memory" but comes from what I wrote down during and immediately after the phone conversation.
