Summary:

The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord, in the local edition of Carvin for October 2, 1954, reported:

A flying saucer?

Crossing the Brûle, Mr. René Pailleux, city gardener, found a device which seemed strange to him: he took it to the police station. It is a metal cylinder of about 30 cm. high, with three fins. Inside were three lamps, like T.S.F. [radio] lamps. Everything was attached to a parachute of about 1.50 m. in diameter. No one saw the device in the air, but it is likely that the fins power a small motor and the lights come on. The lighted parachute must then present the appearance of a... flying saucer. Note, according to the sheet found inside, that it is an experimental device belonging to a weather company.
