Summary:

The regional newspaper La Voix du Nord, in the local issue of Avesnes for October 9, 1954, told that a reisdent of Fourmies had narrated, "with imperturbable poise, under what conditions, on returning from Lille with a colleague", he had seen a flying saucer.

The newspaper assures that the "heat given off by this craft had even left traces on the body of the vehicle... Alas, in spite of the most advanced flasches [sic], these traces did not succeed in impressing the film them, more reluctant than the audience. So much so that the chapter on the saucers remains to be written..."

The flying saucers

Fourmies, or at least the Fourmies residents, should have at least seen a flying saucer.

This is what one of our fellow citizens estimated when he narrated, with imperturbable poise, under what conditions, on returning from Lille with a colleague, he had seen one of these apparatuses.

The heat given off by this craft even left traces on the body of the vehicle... Alas, despite the most advanced flasch [sic], these traces failed to impress the film, more reluctant than the audience. So much so that the chapter on the saucers remains to be written...

This does not look at all like a serious case. Verdict: probable invention of the witness.
